As the title implies, I am looking for a good place to find a beatmania controller, particularly at a decent price (<50 dollars). I looked a bit on eBay, but the offers on there are a bit expensive for what they are offering. My local listings are absolutely dry and no game shops have them used (though of course it is expected considering its age).
Not too much preference on what type of controller it is just as long it looks, feels, and operates like a IIDX controller. With that said, anyone know of a good place to find an affordable controller?

Arcade style or BM US?
Online is your best option. Looking for specific ones though, that might run you a bit more, but if you want something basic like the US BM controller, then eBay and online shops are your best friend.

Well I found these:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Beatmania-Game-and-Controller-Beautiful-Condition-Box-and-instructions-Complete-/170971184558?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cead3dae
http://www.ebay.com/itm/beatmania-Controller-for-PlayStation-PSX-PS2-/150976138717?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2326e10ddd
They're bids though, so they'll probably be hard to win. You can also buy a used bundle on Amazon, but they're expensive. Or you can also try the New Muse-On controller, but that's even more expensive lol

@ Aiming more for the BMUS controller since the distance between the keys and turntable is closer and also because the controller is typically cheaper. Though eBay is starting to run a bit dry.
@Roflcakes: Came across the first ad already. Not much of a fan of the 36 dollar shipping. Second ad looks more promising, but it only ships within the US, sadly. I also had a look at the Amazon listings as well, but I have to look into that site as I haven't really used it. Items are on the expensive side, but I may not have much of a choice.

iPad ran out of battery while trying to post so it made a double post of sorts.
Carry on (my wayward son).

Well...the only other option is to keep an eye on things like the marketplace (in here and bms, etc).

early 2012, I spent much time searching for 'cheap beatmania controllers' and
I can tell you that you'd have to be damn lucky to find a US KOC for less than
80-90 :\
..unless pricing has drastically changed since then
though if you'd like, I can get you in contact with someone living in Japan who's
probably willing to purchase a local JKOC and ship it to you for around 110USD

Just curious, but has anyone checked out their local Gamestop store? I picked up a copy of Beatmania on Saturday and he said he's got a controller in the back for $10 bucks, so when I get paid again I'm going back to pick up the controller.

it's HIGHLY rare, but if you ask and they find it, it is more cheap to get it at a Gamestop than online, but like i said, HIGHLY unlikelymyou will find it at a Gamestop nowadays, you just have to be lucky like bm over here.Post #13 · Posted at 2013-01-22 07:11:36am 12.2 years ago

Hey no harm in asking, but check the website first then check in the physical (or brick and mortar if your prefer) store. I must be lucky Max, cause the website didn't have any beatmania controllers at all then I asked and boom they have one.

I got mine in bemanistyle's market zone for $30. The only disadvantage is that you have to trust the user you are buying it from because there's no actual system in order for your purchase to be safe.

You are very lucky. I've never seen them in any GameStop/EB Games/Microplay stores here. You also got a really fair deal for it considering Amazon has the bundles for like 70-100 dollars used.I'm still on the hunt for one myself and it's been difficult to find anything either close by or at a good price. I think I will just have to bite my tongue and get the bundle on Amazon despite its not-so-nice price.

I got one for pretty cheap from eBay almost 2 years ago. It lasted me about a year and a half, though. If mine still worked, I'd sell it to you, but try AIJ's, bmstyles, or sows marketplace.

I got myself two USKOC's and the US game for 25 bucks at a local shop. I already had a JKOC at the time, but I couldn't resist that kind of deal.
If you're willing to drop the dough on an ASC, though, there's a distributor called GAMO2 based in Hong Kong that sells DJ DAO's controllers, and also has a model of their own called the C33 Traditional Edition. They have a US version that seems to be an entry-level, bare-bones C33 (Dao button/Honeywell microswitch combo with red LED's and a turntable w/ color switch LED). I got mine in about a week, everythings works well. Well worth the 240 bucks I paid for it - and free shipping!

Yeah I looked at that site a few times before. Though this C33 you mentioned seems to be new. Is it any good? What about the distance between the keys and turntable?
I think I may consider getting this once I have enough cash. It looks pretty solid and I especially like the combination PS2 and USB port. Only thing I worry about is the distance between the turntable and the keys.

Distance between turntable and keys is arcade-accurate, to my knowledge. I have not played an arcade cab before, but the gap is a tad wider than the KOC spacing. Nothing to get worked up over though - despite what other people say, I adapted to the new spacing in about 3 songs. The timing feels a little different than a KOC, but that might be because I have a key-modded JKOC >< anyhow, the keys feel solid, and it's always upgrade-able - if you feel like getting some Sanwa keys or Omron microswitches, they sell those too! I'll probably get some Omron switches soon, come to think of it.

I got that, came within a week or so. pretty fast. and it works pretty well. it has 8 keys (white keys, black keys) so you can just switch whenever you want to either side (PC only,. PS2 maybe...)
It comes with USB/PS2 support too!
