Where do you all host your simfile packs?

I used Mediafire with no problems up to today where they've pulled everything for copyright so y'know, having an account on there is completely useless now haha.

I would just use Zenius but I always release 4 variants of my packs and that seems like overkill for Al haha, if not though I'd do that.

But does anyone have any recommendations of places to go?

Lol I use Zenius. I hope that the large amount of packs really isn't overkill for Al (I have 9 packs o.O)

Yeah different packs I wouldn't have a problem but the way I do things I'd have to ask for:

Speirmix [X Scale w/ Videos]
Speirmix [X Scale no Videos]
Speirmix [Classic Scale w/ Videos]
Speirmix [Classic Scale no Videos]

And THAT seems overkill right? Haha...

I suppose if you don't have any Doubles charts, you could have them be the same as the singles charts, but then just rate them on the opposite scale, if that makes any sense. It would make it less overkill. And if people don't want the videos, they can delete them. You can condense it all into one pack that way.

Generally, when people don't want videos, they don't want to download them, as in, they don't want to waste time on downloading the whole thing due to a slow connection or whatever the reason they have.

Sucks about Mediafire, it was my favorite site for uploading stuff. Maybe Rapidshare could be an option?

My problem with Rapidshit Rapidshare is that downloads are so slooow if you don't pay for membership.

How about a pack with the full simfiles set to the classic scale, a pack with just the videos, and a pack with just .sm files containing X-scale ratings? Both .sm files for each song would be scripted for the video should it be present.

Yeah that's the thing, people don't want to waste time downloading videos if they don't want them. >< and as for the "pasting the charts into the doubles charts" it's a good idea but would be awkward for anyone who'd download it and have to go into Doubles all the time haha..

Mediafire was fantastic yeah, this sudden crackdown is a huge downer.

@Aaron Yeah I guess there are a few workarounds, I just worry because my packs are generally quite mainstream which means they attract the type of people that may not really understand how to install additional videos/.sm files, they'll want everything running from the get-go. Just sucks that simple convenience is gone haha!

Might think into getting my own domain or something.

Megaupload is supposedly re-launching in the next few days.

That sounds like a great low-key place to put copyrighted stuff so that it won't get a lot of media attention. :>

I'll have to weigh up the pros and cons haha! Hopefully if I buy a domain there's some kind of website building tool because I don't know the first thing about coding! It's only 30 quid a year for unlimited bandwith and 150GBs worth of space, that's not as bad as I thought it'd be!

The best solution is always "buy your own webspace", or perhaps talking to a site like DDREvolved.com, who already have dedicated webspace for the hosting of simfile packs.

Megaupload is probably the best long-term solution, because they've obviously put a fuck-ton of money into relaunching with a legally fail-safe site, are safe from prosecution from the US government, and clearly don't care about the content of .rar files uploaded to their services.


I use Godaddy.com for both my domains and webspace, and they've never had a problem with me hosting simfiles there.

Ok, got a few suggestions, thanks guys! I'll look into buying my own webspace but I'll wait until megaupload is back just to see what it's like! Just worried me to see people complaining they were down and I had absolutely no solution!

After the New Years I'll have a look at my bank balance and try and get something running aha! I've been paying Mediafire £5 a month since about February this year so it's no problem if I can cancel that and continue the monthly payment on another site

I use this site & YouTube for my simfile packs, but it's not going too well.

I prefer Mediafire for my Individual Packs, because It's easy to store them in there and isn't complicated to download. I just set the download link to my Videos and people can play them from there.
