Today I was looking around for metal DDR pads (because I need one) and because I'm not rich, i need it to be cheap. I found one that looks like what I'm looking for, but i cant find many reviews, so if anyone owns this or knows about it, then can you please tell me how it is.

If you know any other cheap ones (200 or less please) and its very good, then please say it.
Thanks for reading this!

ddr game pads are a bit eh. The usual tiered responses now are as follows:
New machine
Used machine
Used blue shark
Used Cobalt Flux
Build your own (arguably higher, depending on your skill level)
DDR game and other pads.
If you're willing to take a potential risk with that pad, fair enough. If nothing else it could make a good project if it buggers out.

If I had the extra cash or If I didn't I would save for a "used" machine. I have seen them on eBay and even Craigslist for extreme reasonable prices. I personally own a Red Octane Afterburner and I have had it now for 4 years and its still kicking and I have not had any problems out of it. I believe each pad your either lucky to get a working decent one or your just too rough on it...who knows...

A "reasonable price" for a used DDR machine/ITG upgrade of eBay caliber would be between $1,000 and $1,500. A dedicated ITG machine is a good buy when it falls under $5,000.
Most of the sellers have dollar signs in their eyes and list their machines for way more than they're worth, then wonder why they never sell. But if you keep checking you find a reasonable lot eventually.

I just need a DDR metal pad that can last a while, and that's under $200

If you buy a pad, you're probably paying over $100 for something which isn't going to feel exactly as you expect it to, and that instantly throws a lot of people off, or gives them buyers' remorse. Even if it's an exceptionally good pad like a Cobalt Flux, it isn't going to feel like an arcade machine, and any reviews you read probably aren't going to reflect on how the pad will feel when you actually play it - they take a while to get used to.

You're not gonna find much at that price besides building your own (and even the material costs will probably hover around $300 give or take).
It's pretty sad how dead the pad industry is now. There's almost nothing out there anymore.

First Blueshark bit the dust, then Cobalt Flux bit the dust, and just a few days ago the iON Pad (a somewhat decent pad) also went out of print. Your best bet is definitely to make your own pad. If you research about it enough and have the proper tools to do so (or just borrow a friend's set of tools) then it shouldn't be too hard. Also you can customize it the way you want and when it breaks down you know what to fix. Also it seems kinda fun constructing one, but that's just me.

I know that i'm going to pay over 100, but i'm not looking for a arcade perfect feel, i'm looking for one that can last a while for a cheap price. And building it is out of the question.Post #10 · Posted at 2012-12-10 02:45:00am 12.4 years ago

Nobody makes pads anymore, so if you can run to it, spend as much as you can, and buy something immortal (ie : a Cobalt Flux), because in "a while", you probably won't be able to buy any sort of pad, without building it yourself.
I honestly couldn't recommend buying anything less than the best right now, because when it comes time to replace a $100 pad, there's going to be literally nothing left on the market that won't cost twice what it does now.

Definitely a cobalt flux, however you have to be willing to drop the cash for it. The only other options I can think of would cost too much/almost impossible to get without pure luck.

Thank you everyone for the advice, but my issue is money. Tomorrow is Christmas as you all know and i would only have $125 so most pads you all say was way out of price. Like I said before, all i want is a pad that can work for a while, a year at most. So unless I'm expecting more money (or you guys show me a great cheap pad) I will get the aftershock.

And to show thanks for your effort, I will make a review of this one because their isn't any at all. (the shipping is fast so ill have it by the 1st of the new year)

I didn't want to make another thread, so I'll just post here.
I ordered an iON pad from Amazon, but the seller told me that the pad broke during shipping. They gave me a choice to exchange it for an Energy pad or a Champion pad, or just a refund. Should I take one of the pads? Or just a refund? I really want a new pad, but I'm not sure if either of those are good. I'm kinda leaning towards the Champion one.

In my opinion get a refund. Energy pads crack and Champion pads are just poor in quality. However if you're willing to spend copious amounts of time fixing/maintaining/modding your pad, then you can scape away with a Champion pad.

Well, I took a risk and decided to get the metal energy pad and I got it a couple days ago. I really enjoy playing on it, and I added lexan on top to protect the panels from cracking.
But after a while, the pad started to disconnect randomly in the middle of songs. The problem happened less when I played with socks and added lexan, but happened a lot when using shoes. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the control box or the pad itself?

I would love a review of the Aftershock pad. I wonder if it can function well, and it kinda looks like a CF.

So did you make your review for this dance pad yet? I'm really curious to know if it's good or not : )
