[BGA] HD DDRX Background Dancer Videos

Upon being unable to find nice BG Dancer videos myself, I figured I'd make my own. I also figured I'd share them since I had the problem in the first place because I couldn't find anyone sharing. I am pretty much making these at my own pace and for my own amusement, which characters in which outfits will be produced in which order? No one knows. \( O3o)/ But you'll certainly see it in this post when I do something new.

These videos are of single dancers, one of each of them in each of the 6 stages selectable in DDRX on PS2. The videos themselves are 1028x596, which isn't a true 16:9 resolution or anything, it just turned out that way after I cropped out the gui elements from the game and it was close enough. They are recorded from PCSX2, with the internal rendering jacked up to 2048x2048 (4x native) so everything looks about as good as it can without lighting my computer on fire. I will probably produce HQ and LQ versions for the sake of weaker or dedicated machines. So, here goes:

I'm baaaaack~ I made it actually 1280x720 this time around, though that left some minor bits of the gui elements visible, they're virtually invisible.

Sorry, but how do I get StepMania to load only one movie at a time so that it won't go switching to five random dancers within a single song at four-measure intervals?

For some reason my stepmania(SM5) cant play these videos. Yet it can play others that came with some of the official DDR files. Any, clues to why ?

Would you be interested in recording DDR X3 dancers if the screen elements could be removed?

I'd prefer to get more character options out there before I redo the old work, that stuff is fine even though I tweaked my method somewhat. Zero-X did catch a problem with one of my Yuni videos (the Love Sweets! stage) though; I encoded it using x264 by mistake rather than Xvid. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to simply encode in x264 and forget about Xvid entirely, but since people still use Stepmania older than 5.0, I'm using Xvid for compatibility's sake. A replacement will be uploaded for that soon.

Tyma, yes, that would be splendid. The only thing I've seen that I could do something like that with (so far) is DDR II for Wii, which I also want to do BGs from, but I haven't looked terribly hard. Any DDR that is natively high resolution that the gui elements could be suppressed from would be a fine source for me.

Just to make it clear, I tested it on SM3.9, SM5 and OpenITG. This specific file crashed all 3 programs, but all your other files worked fine. I solved the problem opening the video on VirtualDub, making a small edit and saving it as a new AVI file, though.

I also had to resize Afro videos from 1280 to 1024. For some reason I can't explain, any videos with a resolution of 1280x720 or higher appear with a second "ghost" video layer covering part of the original video, when I play (despite looking normal on Media Player).

Hurm, I'm actually not sure what's going on there then honestly, as the Yuni video does play in Stepmania 5 for me. That might be related to why you're getting strange issues with the Afro videos? Something surely is WRONG with that Yuni video (every so often there was a black frame during playback in Stepmania) but I'm not sure what. I'm gonna replace it anyway, but I am interested in compatibility issues so I don't go making huge batches of files that don't work for people, so keep me posted.

I tested Afro videos on SM5. All perfect.
