It looks like Christmass decorations are going up early around here. This thread is for talking about anything related to Christmass, things like wishlists, or talking about what you want your Holiday to be like.

We prepare for Christmas + Halloween here. It's amusing to see Christmas trees sold alongside plastic pumpkins and skeletons, to be honest.
(but actually Christmas preparations here start as early as September, so make of that what you will)

Is it common to see someone dress up as Santa for Halloween because I never actually get to see that.

I'm hoping for someone to do that, actually. Or maybe a snowman or Jack Frost or something.

I'd be surprised if I could grow it that much haha.

I never start planning much for Christmas until Thanksgiving is over. Turkeys are the roadblock in the way of putting up pretty trees. xP Most stores are in Halloween mode now. When it comes to Christmas, I hate buying things for friends because I love too many of them and I have no idea what to get, and I don't wanna make 'em buy anything, either. Besides, we're all broke college students so I would be happy if I just got to play video games with most of them. I try getting gifts for my family, though.
I feel it is a good time to bring up that time that starts in November and ends in April... the best part arguably being after Christmas through after Valentine's day.

Decorations for Christmas shouldn't go up until Black Friday IMO. It's sort of like the unofficial start of the Christmas season anyway.

I think it's just a sales ploy if you ask me. If they put up decorations now, people will be subjected to more of a holiday buying mindset. Of course Halloween draws in lots of business too, but it cannot compare to Christmas.
Though I think it's just silly to see stuff like that up before another holiday has started.

I agree. I used to put up my Christmas stuff right after Thanksgiving, but now I feel like even that's too soon. Same should go for advertising. No Christmas related advertising should start until Black Friday, at least.

Perhaps the reason why Christmas decorations are already up that early is because they want you to have a head-start on decorating your houses filled with Christmas trees and lights and whatnot. Back when I lived in California, Christmas decorations don't come up until late October/early November so I assume that they want you to decorate your houses or places with Christmas galore and by late November/early December, you are already buying presents for your beloved ones. However, the fear of buying presents on those times would be that there's a lot of people flooding the malls just to buy presents and there are stores that don't give good discounts (there are discounts of course but stuff is really going to be expensive.) That's how I see it.
