I have 2 DDR Extremes near me, one with a memory card slot and one with out. My problem is that both arcades won't unlock any new songs. The one with the memory card shows that my memory is in but will not save anything, but shows a unlock window (showing what has been unlock, which nothing has been unlock). The one without the memory card slot doesn't have a unlock screen. i played alot in these 2 arcades and want to be able to play more songs then what it starts out with.
So my questions are:
1: Are these arcades fake?
2: If they are not fake, then why hasn't anything been unlock?
3: Why cant the one arcade save data on my ps1 memory card?

You enter codes in the operator's menu, iirc...

Or and X2.

I don't mean fully unlock but i mean like getting the songs you would get from playing. Like play 15 songs for a song etc. I've been wanting to play songs like sakara and Across the Nightmare but those are locked. Or can nothing be unlocked without the operator's menu?

IIRC you HAVE to go through the operator's menu to unlock anything. Either that, or it's the easiest way

The other method of unlocking the songs is by playing several times. The higher the grades you get, the more points the machine accumulates to unlock certain song/nonstop/challenge.

Hmm i have tried that (21 songs on heavy, all got A's and B's) but nothing sadly. Ill try to talk to the people in charge if i can put the codes in. Just one more thing, Dose the codes stay forever or do you have to put the codes in every time it boots up?Post #10 · Publicado en 2012-08-08 12:15:43pm Hace 12.9 años

The codes stay unless someone resets the machine. If you enter the codes on wednesday, and then go on saturday, the songs will still be there

And this is why 7th Mix's unlock system remains superior to this day.

on 5th Mix, MAX and EXTREME you need the operator to input the codes for you. MAX2 you can also have a operator input the unlock code, but its not necessary if the machine gets played enough.

hmm thanks, kinda dumb but fine. It should be like max2. By the way, do you know why my playstation memory card isn't working with the arcade? (it is ps1 memory cards, right?)Post #15 · Publicado en 2012-08-08 07:32:17pm Hace 12.9 años

I was certain that 6thMIX could be unlocked by the player... all three hidden songs. =\

I learned the hard way that PS1 games can't save onto PS2 memory cards after my initial 2 hour playthrough of Crono Cross
Unless Japanese Playstation 2's (or PS2 games) allow PS2 data to be saved on a PS1 card you need to use the PS2 memory cards.

The memory card issue is because...
a. You need to use PS1 memory cards (Most 3rd party ones work, but don't be surprised if for some reason one doesn't).
b. You need the arcade data save on said memory card to save data. Simply walking into a arcade with the memory card won't work. You can get this data from DDR 5th Mix, MAX, MAX2 or EXTREME for the PS2 (Japanese PS1/PS2 copies ONLY).

Oddly enough you can copy PS1 saves unto a PS2 Memory Card, but it won't read from it. You'd think that with all that backwards compatibility it should.Post #20 · Publicado en 2012-09-07 03:09:31am Hace 12.8 años

This is NOT true for Extreme machines. There are NO other options other than Extreme unlock code via the operator menu. For more information, please see DDRFREAK at the link below:
http://www.ddrfreak.com/versions/faqs-arcade.php?version=80
NO AMOUNT OF PLAYING THE ARCADE WILL UNLOCK ANYTHING.
