"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana" |
I noticed that we have a few college students on the forum and being a first year college student, I ask/get asked this question a LOT, so I thought this would be a kinda fun thread.
The question is simple:
What's your major?
Already graduated from college? Then what was your major?
Not in college yet? Then what are you planning to major in?
I am majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Japanese. I'm currently a freshman at Copper Mountain Community College, but will be going to Long Beach State University next school year. At the moment, I have a 3.5 GPA from the two classes I took over the summer, hopefully I can raise that number with the 4 classes I'm taking this semester .
At this point, I'm not quite sure what I want to do after college. There are so many jobs that I would be interested in, from Software Developer to Tech Critic.I hope that if I can speak/write fluent Japanese that it would give me a big boost in the industry. Lately though, I've become very interested in the political scene, but I just don't think I could handle the stress that goes along with those kinds of jobs.

I'm double-majoring in Political Science and Economics, and minoring in Mathematics at Western Michigan University, holding a 3.7 GPA in my Political Science major and a 4.0 in my Economics major. I'm a super-senior, graduating in April with two BAs, having already accumulated about 130 credits (but still am taking thirty more before I graduate).
From there, I'll probably be going to grad school, seeking my Ph.D. in Economics. I'm currently applying to George Mason University (Fairfax, VA), Washington University (St. Louis, MO), and University of Chicago (Chicago, IL). I may just work in the private sector for a couple of years first, probably in investment banking.

Heh, forgot about double-majors. I've been thinking about double-majoring in English, myself.
Thread title fixed.

THREAD REVIVAL TIME
Well I'm still in my freshman year of college at Minnesota State University Mankato atm, and I'm stuck between graphic design or something in music =/ So far, I don't really like my school's art program, because I can't really paint/sculpt/etc. for shit. I can draw a little, and I'm kinda still learning photoshop a bit. I'm starting to think maybe music is more my thing... I'm a pretty decent singer (I was tenor section leader my senior year of high school), and I listen to a lot of catchy music. I'm also currently learning how to use Garageband on my Mac. Cobra Starship, great band btw..., started a remix contest on Myspace, so that gave me enough incentive to start learning that. I would also love to learn how to play guitar, since I happen to have one lying around, but it never really interested me until now, so I should go grab that.

Maybe in two years time I will plan to go to college working in (maybe ICT, Media Studies, Performing arts, maybe movie making for some).
I need to start thinking about my options as my final decision will begin probably in a few months time.

I've just decided to stay here for my Master's, then go someplace else for my Ph.D. (they don't offer a standard Economics doctorate here, oddly enough).
If I were to ever get another degree besides my current plan, I have entertained the thought of going to law school so I could get into antitrust law...

I'm old and I've changed my major 3 times now. I'm a Business Management major with a minor in choreography.
I'm expecting my associates in 2009 and my bachelors in 2011.
