"My paw is incompurrable!"
I've been thinking of making some edits and trying them out in DDR X but then something was bothering me. I did some research on how to transfer edits to a USB which involves making edits from different DDR CS games. I found this quote.

Quote: DARQs
Yes you're right. I used a DDR X Japanese CS version to compile the edits. However i also own supernova and supernova 2 which is where i do the step data. From there i output the data to my memory card and input it into DDR X's library for export. Heres a quick summary on how to do it:

1. Make your edit file on any DDR version (it MUST be a Japanese version for this to work)
2. go to edit library (the red arrow facing left) and select output (i can't type japanese characters but it's one of the longer lettered options).
3. Load up DDR X and go to the edit section
4. Select input (the blue arrow facing right on the edit menu screen) and choose the edit you saved in the output menu
5. Save this file to your edit library
6. (VERY IMPORTANT) Hit SAVE on the library (botton left corner)
7. Select USB memory (bottom right corner) with a USB drive inserted
8. this should save a DDR_EDITJ.dat to your USB directory in a folder called DDR_EDIT
9. To make the three seperate sets which will work on any machine just copy the DDR_EDIT_J.dat three times renamed as DDR_EDIT_A.dat and DDR_EDIT_U.dat.
10. Place all these files in the DDR_EDIT folder on your USB and you're good to go

Hope that helps

It says that I can transer edits from other DDR games, not just DDR X.

Now my question is, since DDR X CS is required to transfer edits, is it possible to play these edits in DDR X CS? Kinda silly, I know, but I'd rather ask other people who uses edits a lot, unlike me.

It's not possible to play any EDITs for songs that don't appear in the game.

"My paw is incompurrable!"
Sorry for the bump but I have another question.

I used the Step editor to make edits but the DDR X arcade that I regularly play is JP version. The website only provides for NA and EU versions.

I remember downloading some of Xythar's edits. He had the name file as DDR_EDIT_U.DAT before and I remember that you can change it to DDR_EDIT_J.DAT to make it work in JP versions and it actually worked. I can tell that he used the PS2 version of DDR X for the edits.

Now my main problem is that I tried to do this with the edits I made in the Step editor. It didn't work. Is the fact that I used the Step editor which provides edits for NA and EU version the reason why I can't play it in the JP version of DDR X? Even if I changed the file name to DDR_EDIT_J.DAT?

Sorry if it sounds complicated again...

Kinda confusing but ONLY Asian and Japanese cabinets take the DDR X (PS2) usb data export. The European and American cabinets ONLY take the online step editor data. You can't name swap the data for the E/U versions. It only works for the Asia/Jpn versions.

Rule of thumb until someone cracks some codes and such. If you playing on an Asian/Jpn gotta go through the DDR X (PS2) usb export. Using a E/U cabinet gotta use the online step editor.

Also do you have a japanese usb card? American ones like 99% of them don't work on the cabinet and you'll get a "corrupted data" error message.

The USB's not Japanese AFAIK but it did work when I put Xythar's edits. I saw the dude's edits after putting in the USB.

Dang, and to think that I just made an edit out of Will.

There is a way. Gotta get a hex editor program... and a ps1/2 to usb for the computer and such and such... it's a pain in the ass. DDReditmax. That's the program. Then you gotta shave the information, transport it to DDR X, export it. Don't ask me the specifics.

EDIT: Cuz...

Just to clear things out...

Japanese edits are only compatible with Asian machines (DDR_EDIT_A.DAT)
NA & EU edits are both different. They're also different than the JP counterpart, so you can't just rename them.
NA & EU edits can be made using either the online editor or SimPhony, both have pros and cons.
Japanese edits can be made using DDR X JP CS. Either you make edits for other songs using older DDR versions then exporting them to X JP CS, or using DDReditMAX2.

As said earlier, it's pretty complicated if you use DDReM2. I can explain however, having done edits for X2 songs.

Ok. Thanks. But I'll just go with making edits in older DDR Versions before trying out DDREditMax2.
