I know that if a song from one mix appears in a later mix, it doesn't appear in a song pack/group from the later mix, and for optimized size/efficiency I understand why this is done.
However, let's say I wanted to download the DDR X3 pack. I know some of the songs came from DDR II and DDR 2010 but if I want the complete home experience (or a reasonable facsimile), I have to hunt down the song list and download the X3 pack as well as random files from other groups.
Is there a nice way/meta link/etc. to be able to download an entire mix, inclusive of songs on it that just happen to be in other mixes?

Where would you draw the line at? All the songs new to the arcade series at the time (example: X2; X2 America, HOTTEST PARTY 3, UNIVERSE 3 & X2) or all the songs on the mix period (every single KO dating back to 1st)? In the case of some mixes there would be quite a bit of criss-crossing depending on which release line you're following. Would DDR II contain most of X2 arcade even though it's an English console game?

I would rather have a drop down menu below the mix's exclusive songs, linking to the songs that also appear in said mix.

Maybe it would work to just have 2 downloads? One for the new charts and a second one for the repeats?

KONAMI should circulate a DDR game in America for the PS2/PS3/XBOX 360/Wii that has all DDR songs ever made. Or, at least has multiple mixes in one. Because, in America, it is virtually impossible to find certain songs in almost any DDR game for a home TV console of this generation:
MAX.period (the motive behind why [and I know why] is extraneous in my opinion; people can't possibly be THAT gullible, especially since they should know better)
Across The Nightmare (no PS2 DDR game in America has this, or MAX.period in it)
DXY!, Stoic, and Witch Doctor (Giant Toons version): Same reason as above
And, how about those songs that exist exclusively in DDR SN USA Arcade? And, certain songs in DDR SN USA PS2? Why didn't they just integrate it all into one big songlist, where all songs are in both versions of SN in America? There are songs in one version of SN that don't exist in the other, and honestly, I find that inconvenient, and disturbing.

I like this idea the best so far.

That could work. Basically, say I want DDR X3 AC. I want *ALL* of the songs on DDR X3 AC, not just the new ones, even if Brilliant 2U is on a gazillion mixes already. It just adds to the authoritativeness (is that even a word?) of the pack; to have everything that is included in that game/mix inclusive of songs that happen to carry over from older mixes.

Let me guess, are you a regular commenter on Konami's Facebook page? Because the two main types of people there are the "BRING BACK ITG THIS IS CRAP" type and the "I WANT MAX. IN MY MIX THIS IS CRAP" type.

I don't use Facebook. But, why do you seem to make the favoring of ITG and MAX. sound like it's a bad thing? Clearly, ROXOR just knows how to make better pads, and more challenging charts? Is that really such an abomination to the point that KONAMI is currently holding a monopoly on dancing games over America, which is economically speaking a no-no. I mean, why else would KONAMI try to take the rights to ITG from ROXOR? He doesn't want anyone else making dancing games. But, I know for a fact, sooner, or later, he's going to have to give it back.

But when someone on Facebook yells "THERE'S NOT ENOUGH CHALLENGE CHARTS, THIS GAME IS CRAP" every twelve seconds, it gets a bit annoying.
Incidentally, it's been 5, nearly 6 years since Konami got ITG. It would be more than a bit out of the blue if they brought it back. Particularly as in Japan (the only market they give a toss about, to be honest) DDR X3 is doing just fine.

Never mind. I should probably just stick with gathering friends, getting better at DDR/ITG, and just find a machine to hack and add songpacks to.

Hrm? I was just asking about ideas and thought about downloading simfile packs that would encompass entire mixes inclusive of revived or carried-over songs, not turn it into a DDR/ITG brawlfest. I will say one thing though.
The lawsuit was originally based on the fact the ITG upgrade kits required you to cannibalize a DDR cabinet and the system therein; profiting off another company's work. It wasn't about the game itself. Konami's legal team had every right to go after Roxor for that. If Sony released a kit so you could play Xbox games on your PS3, do you think Microsoft would *not* respond?
(Though in an amusing anecdote, the old Colecovision console had an add-on that let you play Atari 2600 games)
Wait, what is this thread about, again? I'd rambling again so I'll just leave it at that.

Because otherwise, there's no point in claiming the rights to something you're not gonna use.

True, but is KONAMI doing anything with ITG? It's probably just gonna sit there in storage and collect dust. (Uptown Girls reference)

Considering how long it's been, most likely not.

It took me forever to get my head around the notion that preview songs are found in the pack of the first game they were previewed in, and not the first game Konami canonically lists them as appearing in.
I think that changed with the DDR X2 pack, though?

I remember seeing repeats in the simfile categories, but it was for DDR 2010. When downloading the pack, I saw repeats for the revivals (notably Tsugaru (Apple Mix), Sweet Sweet Love Magic, and Max 300). The Wii version had no licenses though, just the ones that were exclusive to the game (Downtown and HP3). This is getting a teeny bit confusing
You should use Facebook, it's a pretty nice site.
I don't mind revivals, but would you really want to play the same eighty songs over and over again? I'm starting to like the new stuff now, and when I show my friends some of the newer material, they're like, "THAT's DDR? It's not lame?" Most people only recognize DDR with Butterfly and "that Beethoven song that plays in the arcades" (Speed Over Beethoven, which featured in Extreme 2 here in the States). I hear PIU is doing pretty well over here though ;)
But no offense, Konami doesn't have a monopoly on dance games, just a monopoly of four panel ones. And frankly, it's getting killed in the competition (you have things like Dance Central and Just Dance that are sweeping up the market currently). I wouldn't be surprised if Konami decided to do something on the same lines (not DanceMasters/Rhythm Party mind you, but a JD clone).
