Money and You

We've all had that feeling of regret when we figure out a pad sucks after we insert that lovely dollar or euro into a cab...
or the opposite and we dispose our income or daddy's allowance on a cab.

so now I ask-

How much money have you spent on rhythm game machines like DDR, IIDX, Popn, GF/DM, etc?
(Ex: I have wasted 50 dollars worth in a year to machines, blah)
Just an estimate to see how much the community gives out to our lovely rhythm based games.

Last year, I think I might have spent a little under $200. ._.

Excluding tournament travel and home versions, I've spent approximately $750 on rhythm games over the past three years.

Last year, $50 on DDR II, $28 on jubeat+/RB+ music packs, and $(NZ)2 on an ITG2 machine with custom songs.

I probably spent a little under 20$ this year. I would spend more if I had more dispensable cash and an arcade within a decent range that had a good mix. The only arcade that has a recent mix is across the city for me.

Well, last year I only went to the arcade twice, so even if you count my trip to Tsubasacon as a rhythm game expense (which would be totally and completely fair - I spent 90% of my time there on the Stepmania machine =P), I came out under $100. I just bought a surround speaker system pretty much only for OpenITG though, and I plan on making a pair of metal pads soon, so...this year will be a LOT more expensive.

Worth it.

Nah, I'm sure other stuff counts too, as long as it's a rhythm game, or for one.

Arcade rhythm gaming: i'd give or take around $350 to $415

Combine that with home consoles, equipment (pads), and anything extra, more than $800

This is lifetime value right?

In arcades? I'd say about $100 this past year, mainly since my main arcade (Chinatown Fair) closed down over 10 months ago. Had to rely on the arcades in Coney Island and Toys R Us Times Square for a cheap DDR fix. Since August 2007 (when I started going to arcades frequently again), I'd say about $700 in arcades.

I work at an arcade so I get free DDR bwahahahaha although well the actual salary is like a little above minimum wage. xP Maybe like $10 on Drummania.

If we can count merchandise (DDR X2 soundtrack ohhohoohohoh, DDR doujins, TERRA) then something close to/ over $100.

Although that was just this year. I'm positive since starting out, I would pump like $5 a week into an arcade so that times 52... and then occasionally more on other days just to practice, so maybe like $300 over some older years.

Since I started playing in the late 90s? All of it? Well, if I include the money spent in the arcade, home consoles, games and soundtracks, thousands of dollars. I'm serious. (at my peak I would be putting in $50 to $100 or more a week into various music games (arcade-only)) Yes, I had a few Bemani related presents and perks over the years, but that still doesn't quite offset the amount of yen poured into various arcades (machines) and shops over the years.
