I calculated some statistics about the average difficulty in DDR.
Old Scale(Supernova 2 arcade):
Beginner: 1.325
Light: 3.738
Standard: 5.732 (lol)
Heavy: 7.666
Challenge: 8.545
Average Difficulty of all charts(single): 4.771
D-Light: 3.717
D-Standard: 5.798
D-Heavy: 7.777
D-Challenge: 8.636
Average Difficulty of all Double charts: 5.914
New Scale(X2 arcade):
Beginner: 3.140
Light: 5.344
Standard: 8.155
Heavy: 11.226
Challenge: 12.562
Average Difficulty of all single charts: 7.342
D-Light: 5.408
D-Standard: 8.194
D-Heavy: 11.400

Well the truth of the matter is that the average, if you recalculate the actual ratings to what they would and should be, you'd see that Expert would be more of a "6-ish" average.
