Colbalt Flux's website is down: http://www.cobaltflux.com/

Also, according to Lucie, other metal pads appear to be discontinued.

What does this mean? I think it's just a coincidence, but...

"This hat hurts"
This is the beginning of the end of DDR and ITG.....JK, but maybe there is a technical problem or something with the site.

Futuremax.... they and mayflash are the Metal Pad shops for Europe.... http://www.futuremax.eu/de/metal-dance-pad.html

Both are saying the same:

Quote: "Futuremax"

Metal Dance Pad

The production of Metal Dance Pads has been discontinued.
We are expecting a last "overstock" from a Chinese and USA supplier around 21st of November.
Those will most likely be the last Metal Pads ever Sad.

No.... please... NO!

@ Cowtaro: Maybe the CobaltFlux site...
But in Europe Metal Mads won`t exist anymore....
They are saying the Production of Metal Pads was completely discontinued...

Possibly, or maybe the site's actually down.

That won`t be a problem right now, we all have our Pads... but it will be a problem of for the future generation....
Do they really want to play on Softpads only?
If the Production is really discontinued all over the world...
This is really the beginning of the end.
Arcades are dying, metal pads are not produced anymore.

NICE! I`M 12 YEARS TO LATE!

It sounds like a marketing ploy. "PAD'S AREN'T BEING MADE ANYMORE BUY THEM WHILE YOU CAN" kind of like what they're doing with the Harry Potter series. Though this really does suck especially since I was interested in one.

"Give me a steady beat."
Why would they all stop at the same time? Legal issues? Over what?

It isn't just a site going down, Arctic. Several different distributors are now saying limited stock or no stock. When essentially just yesterday everything was fine.

Dance mat games seem to be a dying breed these days, although if CF's site is down it's not the end of the world. If they don't renew their domain (and it comes up with one of those generic search pages) THAT'S your cue to start worrying...

Even then, Positive Gaming sell hard pads if you're willing to fork out.

This is really the beginning of the end.

We already had "the end" in 2003. It was a discontinuation of the DDR arcade series, which caused a huge increase in fan-created material, and led to the release of In The Groove and Guitar Hero.

It was this enviroment that inspired companies like Cobalt Flux to create expensive, high-quality pads for home use. It was obvious at the time that arcades were dead, most DDR would be played on Stepmania from now on, and most of the community would be playing content made by fans. It's been almost 10 years since DDR Extreme now, and if Konami pulled the plug again tomorrow, I can't imagine anything different would change - people would once again band together, and make another game in the vein of ITG, to plug the gap and keep the community going.

Of course, these peripherals aren't going to be made forever - they have a limited customer base, and there are like, 10 different companies making them. The moment those companies stop selling them, there's more room in the market for the other companies to make another production run.

"DINGDONG♥HEARTS"
If anything, one can buy the parts to make them. Or just buy the arcade pads and wire them to the computer.

That would be difficult, but SO worth it.

It's shockingly easy. You can just plug the loom into one of these : http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html
