Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died in California. Jobs was 56.
His death was reported by The Associated Press, citing Apple.
Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world's first personal computer, the Apple II.
Industry watchers called him a master innovator -- perhaps on a par with Thomas Edison -- changing the worlds of computing, recorded music and communications.
In 2004, he beat back an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, and in 2009 he was forced to get a liver transplant. After several years of failing health, Jobs announced on Aug. 24, 2011 that he was stepping down as Apple's chief executive.
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation. "Unfortunately, that day has come."

Rest in peace.
I saw a friend make a status on Facebook about this. I thought to myself "Are they really making this shit up again?" And then I read the news. T_T
EDIT: Went on Facebook again and there are like 80 people going "OMG STEVE JOBZZZZZ"

At least it's a little respectful in here. I'm seeing shit on my Facebook wall that is putting in me the desire to murder.
It disturbs me to the core of my being that some people can use this as a chance to crack a joke or make light of someone's death. The man left behind a family. I hope they never have to see what I've seen already. And Jobs accomplished a lot more before he was 25 than some of these jokers ever will.
Yeah, for the time being wishful eyes are going to wait for Apple to falter, the stock is going to drop, and fence-sitters are going to throw away their iPhones as if they suddenly stopped working. But Jobs didn't hire fools, he didn't leave without setting up a plan. And knowing him he left 50 years of guidance and ideas behind. Apple will change because of this, but I see it getting stronger and continuing to be a spearhead for the rest of the industry as well.
Love him or hate him, he changed the world. He inspired me. Rest in peace.

Am I the only one who thinks this didn't deserve a thread?

I'll be nicer then-
As many in here know, I'm not a fan of Apple (products).
Never have been since day 1 and I guess never will be (even in my wildest dreams).
Saying that - I extend my condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Jobs as well as the die-hard Apple fans.

Eep.
It's not even worth thinking about how different the world would be right now, if it wasn't for Steve Jobs. We'd probably be getting Windows xp right about now..

Honestly, I wonder what the future of Apple will look like. I kind of wondered what it would look like when he resigned as CEO but now it seems the future of Apple and the iPhone may be bleak if Tim Cook doesn't execute things they way Steve Jobs did. Steve Jobs always did it correctly but watching the keynote with Tim Cook was awkward and kind of boring. I wish he could have had his first Apple event with a brand new product rather than a slew of disappointment from many fans. I think that might have an effect on his image and the expectations of future product releases. It may be small but it will be there. It's like starting a new school year with a broken leg. Also, we are in a new decade and popular media devices seem to only last about a decade. What comes after iPod? Some say it's cloud, but who knows at this point. What ever it may be I think it would only be appropriate if Steve jobs carried it out. I still think there is a good chance that Tim Cook will be the one to usher in the new era of portable media since there is still a lot of attention turned towards Apple but things may change. All things set aside I feel bad for Steve Jobs' family and I wish them well.

IMO, even though Steve wasn't that old, he still had a fulfilled life before he passed away.

I can't explain it, but my iPhone, which couldn't register my touch just magically started working last night as soon as I got to bed. I used to use it as a flashlight before that.

Kinda morbid to think that Steve Jobs knew his time was coming back in August when he resigned.

Well, damn. That explains why he decided to resign a couple of weeks ago. I'm a Windows guy, but I have to admit he really did revolutionize the industry. RIP Mr. Jobs & I send my heartfelt sympathy to his family, along with those who worked alongside him at Apple.
