I still think that I prefer the style used for the European boxarts more:

Even if that woman on the right in 3 looks a little suspect.
I'm really tempted to pick this up instead of DDRII, actually.

The Japanese song is the most mind-boggling kind of "what the fuck" I've ever seen in a dancing game.

The songs aren't pre-order exclusive, they're just store exclusive. Still, I approve of all the party antics this game will provide.Quote: Chewi☆

Barbra Stresiand. Woowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoo
Rented it for the weekend, returned it today and I must say I'm very impressed. Quartets, Unlockable content that doesn't feel hastily put together, picking characters for duets/quartets, just the best package yet. Although I must say, the strict censorship (or I guess quantity of censorship) is just downright silly. They should have just rated it T.

Well, considering that they still want the 10 to 13 demographic, I can understand the choices. California Gurls just sounds funny though. XD Anyways, picked this up yesterday, played it twice and loves both hours I spent with it. Taking it to the Penn State Anime Club video game night to gather further information on Wednesday.
Will report additional findings later. :3
What I did find interesting is they changed the choreography for the chorus of What You Waiting For. I find it odd that they changed it from the trailer in the actual release.

"Rainbows in the Sky" |
Some notes (I recently wrote a review of this game):
- I really think unlockables were one of the best features for this game. Actually made me want to play one more round to get enough stars XD
- There were some frame rate issues when playing some songs. Not game breaking, but they were noticeable (this being the most graphically intensive Just Dance game).
- Song list was really eclectic this time, even though there were a lot of Top 40 hits.
- Quartets? Just amazing. If you see a perfect four player game of Dynamite, you'll see what I mean.
- This game has a sequel difficulty spike. Only song that was one physic and technic (1 difficulty and effort) was Something Stupid. There are a few 3/3 songs, hardest of the trilogy.

^ Well DDR became quite similar with songs getting generally more difficult overall as time went on. I suppose the only downside is that I don't think the Just Dance series has difficulty levels.
Then again, as far as I'm aware, it's impossible to "fail" a stage in Just Dance like you can in DDR; you just won't get a good score.

I forgot to hyperlink a review of the game:

Still a bit perplexed at why this gets more plays at little parties I go to when compared to DDR. I know it's more "mainstream" at this point in time, but I still find a bit more satisfaction playing DDR

DDR requires effort in order to get satisfaction. No one goes to parties to learn to play a new game, even less if it requires some actual skill/effort. That's when the so-called "casual" games come in, they require zero effort to get satisfaction, but they don't have enough substance to keep you coming back for getting better at it, that's why they are great at parties. Girls LOVE Just Dance though.

Which Just Dance 3 averts HARD. The excitement of mastering/memorizing a dance routine and then getting five stars is incredible, but it takes some doing to get there, and it's not likely achievable in one night.

Well, I was at a casual gaming event where they had DDR, the girls seemed to enjoy that. (They only had the default songs for SN2, but yeah). Keep in mind before DDR was the poster child for music games, so it seemed to have that Just Dance "no effort" philosophy until the end of the PS2 era.

Yup, totally true. I borrowed the game for the weekend and played for a few hours but only scratched the surface of unlockables. those steps are HARD TO THE MAX. Plus now you've got quartets, so you can master four routines at a time!
