1) What's a "candlestep"? I've heard it used as a term for some type of step pattern (like a crossover, jackhammer, etc.) but I've never heard it explained.
2) Besides Afronova walk, Tell jump, and HDVO-style run, what other step patterns are typically named after songs?
3) This is an ITG related question, but have there ever been any instances at all of *official* step charts for the songs Vertex^3 and Chaos Energy? (I suppose the closest you can get is VVV from Pump It Up.)

I'd call Polyrhythm's ending Polyloop, but that's just me. :/ I'm sure there are a ton of others.

1) I can't quite explain why, but it's a triplet like UDL or LRD, I think.
2) The one I can remember is the Butterfly spin. And to lesser extent, maybe the Cartoon Heroes three-quarter turn.
3) I don't think you can have officials of them...can you?

1) any foot movement that involves one foot having to cross the center panel to reach the next arrow, such as DRU or ULD, it was a japanese creation something involving putting out the flame of a candle or having to avoid the center panel or something like that, im not sure myself but it just stuck.
2) Back in the day there was the butterfly drop which was on butterflys trick chart, boom boom dollars sumo stomp (this is REALLY old now)
3) No there are no such things as the VVV chart was never finished for ITG 3 and ive no idea what chaos energy really is, there was a fan ITG 3 project but all the charts including the few that actually were finished officially were changed for the worse

I don't think I've ever seen Chaos Energy, but I've seen several "official" versions of VerTex^3. I just checked out all the different copies I had that are associated with In The Groove 3 and aside from a constantly changing Single/Expert chart everything pretty much stayed the same. I compiled the older Expert charts into this file as Edits.
This simfile is part of the In The Groove 3 preview pack. I don't know how official it is but it's probably as close as we'll get. The background scripts will assume you have all the videos from In The Groove 2 installed.

Thank you very much! So it's basically a crossover turned sideways?Quote: Kiri_No_Haku

Never heard of any of these, not even Sunkiss Drop Crabwalk which I know the chart to very well. What are they? Are they in common use right now?Post #10 · Posted at 2011-08-20 03:03:36am 13.8 years ago

Thank you very much! So it's basically a crossover turned sideways? No basically a crossover is ANY pattern that involves your left foot ending on the right arrow or right foot ending on the left arrow as you have "Crossed over" to the other side of the pad. A candle is simply any 3 arrow pattern where the foot that hits the first and third arrow has to go over the center panel during the second arrow, DLU DRU ULD URD LUR LDR RUL RDL are the only combinations for it but there are thousands of patterns that could be classed as a crossover

The SEXY PLANET (FNSMM) one is the repeated 4th stream of "step-jump step-jump step-jump" that occurs during the moaning parts. It's a completely freestyle thing, but you can spin around in a circle while you hit those as they simply use the same two panels.

Considering that specific pattern only appears in Tsugaru, I don't think it should have a name.

I just air hump during the jumps. It's fun. :3Also crossovers CAN be candles, but people usually distinguish between the two rather than mix them up.

So all the other song-specific patterns are found elsewhere?

We need to make a creative name for it. Sexual Moan Spins?

Isn't that where you proceed to step on the annoying child trying to go at your down arrow through the bar and proceed to spin around and whack them? I wanted to attempt that once.

I was going to mention this! Yeah, it should have a name. The Tsugaru walk sounds good enough to me
