Sorry if my title is quite misleading... So I watched this video:

I believe he was able to simulate the IIDX and DJ Max key pressing thing, wherein when you tap/press a key, you produce a sound
I was wondering how he did that 'cause it would be so cool simulating this

Funny enough, the video doesn't produce any sound for me.

I think he is talking about the first few seconds right before the music starts to play

Meh it was just my computer at home. At home it wouldn't even play sound from the video, but here at work it does.

Yes, and the synchronization of the misses with the sounds of the keys being pressed

So... is it possible for this to be simulated or anything?

Oh, keysound?

I don't know how to make a keysounded simfile, but actually you'll need 1 audio file each "presses". Find some Keysounded IIDX BMS's and you'll get what I mean.

"Keysound", so that's the right term. Thanks for the clarification Happy
So it's made via simfile and not by modding the game itself

"Give me a steady beat."
Yes, it's how you code the simfile. StepMania has supported keysounds for a while now.

You basically script the audio files like you would a background animation and only the sounds that are pressed will play. Google a program called Lunatic Rave (beatmania simulator) and download some files for it to see how it works. There's also bound to be some info or tutorials on how to format keysounds for StepMania simfiles somewhere.
