Hey. I'm planning a tournament for our humble SN cab, Asian X2-converted machine. I want to plan a fun day with DDR players of any level to come and compete. My goal is to build awareness of a DDR X2 machine in NY THAT WORKS!!
It's on September 17th, on Saturday!
Peter Pan Games in Queens, NY. Bay Terrace. http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcadelocations.php?locationid=1538
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=110962229004322
5 dollars entry fee. Pot is 60/30/10, first, second and third place, respectively. Each players pay 3 tokens. Regualr machine price is FIVE tokens. During tournament, it'll be only 3. NO EVENT MODE.
This will be a Double Elimination tournament. There will be a winner's bracket and a loser's bracket.
At the beginning, there will be a qualifying round, with two songs I picked. You will not know them. The only hint I can give is that one is from the old mix, and one is on the new mix.
On the main rounds, whoever has the higher seed can either pick the first song or the pad side.
The remaning four players standing will enter a Round Robin, and everyone will face off against everyone.
Each player gets to pick a particular song ONCE.
Pad misses will be considered by the directers and calculated into the machine score.
If there is a tie (very unlikely), Final Stage will be random, or picked by me. You choose.
Songs could actually be played on ANY difficulty, but both players have to agree upon it. This will NOT be limited to Expert and Challenge. Also, I will laugh if both players want to play on Beginner lol.
Doors open from about 11 o clock. Qualifiers start at 3 PM. Machine will be available before qualifiers, but with its regular pricing of 5 tokens.
Any questions, PM me.

Is it on the default tracklist or did you get a used kit with the eAmuse updates intact?

I'm down. It gives me more chances to play any song from SN2 onwards on a decent machine. Just raise the timer on the song select screen. 50 seconds is not enough to select a song.

It was 40, but thanks to me, I told the arcade owner to raise it to 50. According to him, by making the timer short, the time spent on a single player playing his or her round will shorten, which will benefit because of other people playing and paying faster and such.
Person puts tokens in, picks first song, plays, second song, plays, Final Stage, plays, MAY go to Extra stage, plays or dies = 7 to 8 minutes with that timer.

Or you can try dealing with "such" players in some arcades here. Pick the song, let the timer run out, enter options, let the timer run out, repeat ad infinitum. It usually happens when a player is already tired, but still won't stop playing and won't give chances to others. And can make an hour of your life wasted waiting to finally get on the pad.

I wish I could send all of you guys to NY and participate. I'm even thinking about bringing chips and stuff (with the consent of the arcade owner xD)

Nah, i would much rather hit up that Applebee's around the area of the arcade :v lolYou know, my cousin now lives in Manhattan. Me going up to New York every once in a while just became a bigger possibility than before. If i DO happen to go up there during a time when i am visiting my cousin in New York, you can definitely count me in

LMAO See what not putting a "]" could do?
I have a question. What should my scoring be? DDR X2 has Marvelous timing, so should I just make it money score? 980,000 beats 970,000 and not consider the number of Marvelous and Perfect?

I hope I can come, this looks pretty great. Also Paula Terry, WHAT
Yeah, money score sounds good... it already factors in the Marvelous/Perfect counts, so why bother with the "two-points-marvelous, one-point-perfect" scoring?

Then come

So help me out. 2 out of 3 battle. 1st song picked by highest seed, then 2nd picked by other player, then 3rd should be random?
And if one player wins a song, then on the next one, the other player wins, regardless of how much each player score is, it'll be a tied?
I'm a bit of a noob at this xD

Yeah. It's really always fair: Say first song is, for argument's sake, Decade. Pretty simple 11, P1 wins. Second song is Valkyrie Dimension Oni, a 19. P2 wins. Though P2 probably got a lower score on VD than the P1 did for Decade, he won that round. Or, at least, that's the way I played it at the last tournament I was at... Meh, do whatever you like. It's your tournament, after all. And if one player wins a song, then on the next one, the other player wins, regardless of how much each player score is, it'll be a tied?

Tournament was a success! We had 12 players compete, and I think that's a good. Hope to make another one soon

Very much this. T'was a blast, despite that it started a bit later than advertised, and the guys that showed were pretty awesome. Hopefully I can make the next one if it happens.
