I've looked around and haven't found much, so I figured I would ask here. I'm asking for an owner of a DDR Supernova USA machine about upgrade kits.
I know they didn't make a DDR X2 USA upgrade kit, I know there are JP kits but the issue would be unlocks, last I heard the unlock codes don't work for JP. Have they made a patch for JP and or asian machines yet?
I could also upgrade it to a DDR X machine, I know we didn't get an official one but could we use a JP or asian kit for this?, If I remember correctly our unlock codes work with those kits correct?
If its easier to upgrade it to a SN2 I suppose I could do that, as I'm sure I can't change it to a lower mix.
If you all could tell me some websites and or any additional information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well you can upgrade any machine to whatever mix you want but the hardware is the problem. X and X2 run BEMANI PC while SuperNOVA and SuperNOVA 2 run on Python 2. The easiest one to find would likely be an SuperNOVA (2) but you would need to hunt one down through something like YAJ because they are almost never sold online in America. You also could get an upgrade kit for X and X2. Getting a Japanese kit is almost impossible so don't even bother trying. An Asian kit is actually pretty possible if you talk to the right people.
As for unlock codes both X and X2 need a update to be able to allow the input of unlock codes, although for X2 there is only one so far so your not really missing that much.

A Japanese DDR X accepts the unlock codes released for English cabinets.

Does the upgrade kit include the Bemani PC hardware, or would you scout for a cheap but sufficient (so that the game shouldn't show performance lag, aside from the screen lag if applicable) PC by yourself?

"Oh god what I have dooooone?!" |
upgrade kit for ddr x would include the full pc, having no prior system with the bemani pc. x2 might have software and hw kits seperately.
thing is, if you got a ddr x kit i doubt it'd matter if it was US or JP, if you can install either into a crt supernova cab then lag wouldn't be an issue i don't think.
that said, i don't think US got X upgrade kits from memory.
