I checked and didn't find a thread like this. Sorry if there is one.
My favorite mission mode is DDR Extreme because it's challenging and the mods are interesting. I also like how you don't play the full song (usually) and it's just a portion.
This caused the mission modes to get worse and worse over time (for me). I'll admit I also liked DDR Extreme 2 and DDR Supernova's mission modes, but none compare to DDR Extreme's.

If Extreme 2's would have let you select your difficulty instead of having to play through Basic and Beginner for half of the game that would have been brilliant. You could have had the progression, the difficulties could have been the lowest one you could select.

What's so great about Extreme's Mission Mode? It has some stupidly tough charts that I had to do 30-50 times (Pink Rose near-PFC, B4U not stepping on left). Personally, I prefer Extreme 2's Dance Master Mode. Maybe the progression was weird, but it had a ton of content, partially due to finding those Hidden Steps, which was a cool bonus.

The fact that it was unique. I would rather play something in Bob mode than go and play Just Dance in Beginner.

"Bob" Mode? Is that an abbreviation? Also, I agree that it would be nice to play at your own level, though some mission requirements would have to change per level. ("I got 20 perfects in the first 5 seconds of the song. Stage Break's off, right?")

Extreme 2's was the best one. It gave a number of choices as to what to do next and also had the hidden objectives (though I hated the one that was 'get < 6.8 million' when the normal mission was 'get > 6.5 millon'). It also had many (tolerable) gimmicks to some of the missions, like Extreme.
Extreme's wasn't as good to me because of the lack of hidden objectives and the fact that you knew how many missions were left (even though they had the second section), but that LoM 'guess the arrow' mission was quite notable (I remember failing that mission once due to getting a Great instead of Perfect, which was a little irritating).
SuperNOVA's was decent, as it did let you choose your difficulty, and you didn't have to clear nealry all of the missions to progress onward (usually). It also had the advantage/problem that only one player had to use certain modifiers for certain missions, allowing you to use the other player to look at the chart normally.
SuperNOVA 2 and X (never bothered with X2's) were annoying, as they required playing certain charts and had a number of missions that required good/amazing timing, which is not something I have.

SuperNOVA1's Stellar Master Mode is my favorite because you are free to play on whatever level and you can set mods for most of the missions. It was a little time-consuming(finishing TheLast took FOREVER) and I haven't finished Pizza Box yet, but I still enjoyed all the music and the PiX characters.
Extreme2 would be my second favorite because it had more to choose from, and X1 was okay, but they could have given better stories for each of the characters.
SuperNOVA2 and Extreme1 could have been better because some of the later trials were just too hard for me to get.
Lastly, X2's really got on my nerves. I don't think I've ever heard about anyone finishing it either. How the heck are we supposed to get all Marvelous on stuff? It took me almost 20 tries to get one of those stupid trials passed.

I love HYPER MASTER MODE in SuperNOVA2 because it gave you a whole other mode of DOUBLE to play. I also like the SHOP system.

1. Dance Master Mode - EXTREME 2 - Just the best overall effort to make a campaign mode in DDR. Fun to be had for everyone as the difficulty went from yawningly easy to brutal and unforgiving over the course of the entire map.
2. Steller Master Mode - SuperNOVA - The checklist system and VIP cards was a very inventive way to progress through the stages and also Pix.
3. Street Master Mode - X - The character art was excellent/funny/disturbing and some of the dialog made me wish there was voice acting.

Street Master Mode. Favorite. Ever.
Only only only thing that bothered me about it was that it took forever to unlock the cute little stories-- I mean the... unlockable content or whatever because each mission ranged from like one to three full blasted unfailable songs. But the script... so... must... justice... to the original profiles... soooo much justice. And flipping, Yuni's story and how it was so obviously Akira the whole time, YES. <3
And I'm just gonna say I liked Dice Master Mode because 1) you don't have to 100% it to get most of the content LOOKING AT YOU, EXTREME, b) total character addict here, c) it was addictive when you were actually able to do more than one lame mission per character, and d) no one else was probably going to vouch for it. The obvious flaw no one can deny was the stupid marvelous count missions... and the lack of ability to get all the songs via this mode, but does anyone like the new Dynamite Rave, anyway...? *bricked* Pretty sure that was the only song that didn't unlock... that song, and a few dice sides that may or may not have been helpful.
EDIT after like two posts later: Er, okay the Air Special, specifically. To my knowledge, it's just the new Dynamite Rave with a bunch of jumps after jumps after jumps...

I hate the fake doubles missions on Hyper Master Mode, I forgot to say that.
I do; however; like the new Dynamite Rave song as well as the Brilliant 2U and Celebrate Nite tracks.

I liked DDR Supernova's Stellar Master Mode. It was fun and it lasted awhile, except it gets repetitive sometimes

Stellar Master Mode falls on my number ONE category
Every other mission mode can just go to hell
except for Quest Mode of course, that's #2
