When submitting your own simfiles, do you rate them old-school, or X-style? My only two simfiles so far have been X-rated, but I'm not sure whether or not people want them to be old-school; if so, I'll go change them up.

I rate mine pre-X, but it's really your choice if you want it X scale or not. Some people prefer X over pre-X and vice versa, but most people aren't bothered by it from what I have seen. A good idea could be to rate them in both styles to cater to both styles of rating.

Most X-rated simfiles I've played so far were way to tame, PG-13 at most.

Most people on here seem to put old scale ratings on the simfile and put X scale ratings in the descriptions.

Yeah, this is what I do.
I'm still using the original theme for Stepmania so X style ratings don't really display correctly, nor do I really feel like there's any need for them when the original DDR / ITG rating scale does the job pretty well.

I agree with this this also.
I tick with the old Scale but use the 11-14 footers for certain reasons

I do X scale, not perfect however. It's just finely grained, defines a song easily.
