(Crossposted on Bemanistyle.com)

Well, seeing as my Ignition 3.0 (just found out that it's, I believe, a 3.0, not a 2.0 after all) is not doing so well these days, I'm interested in looking for a new dance pad. I've searched around, on here, DDRFreak, Google, etc. and most threads are very old, so I figure new products coming out more recently than those threads might be better than the older ones they talk about, so I came looking for updated information.

I'm more or less looking for a good foam pad, at the moment. It seems like if you're looking for the best metal pad nowdays (without buying a used Blueshark maybe, if those were the best. Seemed like there was a dispute whether the arcade-like Blueshark metal pad was better than the CF, or the other way around, or what), buying it new, would be the CF. At this moment though, I'm looking for a new foam pad, and wonder what would be best. It seems like, obviously, foam pads should be better than the usual soft pad (though I've heard they could be good if you tape them down to a piece of wood or something). Seeing as RedOctane does not exist anymore, I'm wondering what other company might make good foam pads. I have actually found a few Ignitions that might be the 1.0 if I had to guess, but I wasn't sure if those were good or not. (Just googling it really fast saw mixed results)

I've heard DDRGame's are not too good, but that possibly Blueshark's foam ones were good. I thought possibly about this pad from Blueshark: http://www.mymybox.com/ddrmbsdx2.html (Assuming that's the newest one, and thus, would be the best of their foam pads, perhaps?) I haven't seen reviews on it yet, so I'm not fully sure.

From what I've seen, it's between that Blueshark, possibly this DDRGame on Amazon.com which got mostly good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Energy-Foam-Deluxe-Dance-Playstation/dp/B000GHG0BA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top (Though I seem to have heard that DDRGame pads aren't very good, perhaps?) Those are some ideas, but I'm welcome to others. I plan to be playing quite a bit, so I would want something that would last, I hope. I also play on carpet, so, I'd want a pad that wouldn't slip too much I'd hope (though I am welcome to ideas of how to stop pads from slipping so much on carpet. I used those plastic mats that people put under office chairs and such, but it seems, eventually, those slip ever so slightly. It's a lot better than without, but, I just wonder if there is a better alternative.

So basically, until I possibly get a CF, what would be the best alternative (assuming it's the foam pads). Blueshark, DDRGame, or possibly even one of those Ignitions I found (which might be 1.0? not sure.) I'm currently playing DDR just on the PS2, but I would be open to using newer console versions as well, if at all possible. (The possibility of using it on newer ones would be nice, but, like if those early Ignitions would be best, I could be okay with getting a different one down the line that could work on other systems.) Thanks!

I've never had good experiences with foam pads. I've had better experiences with soft pads, actually (specifically this one: http://www.mymybox.com/itgdancepad.html)

I've also heard bad things about modern Cobalt Fluxes, and I think they feel nothing like the arcade, but in the state of the metal pad market today... I guess there's nothing better.

Well, my Ignition 2.0 lasted quite a long time, and it seemed to be a very solid pad for quite some time. Steps seemed to register just fine and all that. However, I assume the "raised" panels have started to drift to the center of the pad, and it seems like hitting left/right often will hit up/down with it, and such. There's an Ignition 1.0 selling out soon and so I'm wondering if I should jump on the deal or not.

I'm surprised that you've had better experience with soft pads. I figured foam was the step up from soft, and metal the step up from foam.

Yeah, the one asking for peoples' input is good. Too bad there weren't more responses though, heh.

Since the Ignition 1.0 (I assume it's a 1.0. Might even be a 2. It's just hard to tell because it's not on the package from what I can see anyway. Because it says it works on two platforms, it's the 2.0 perhaps?) will be selling soon, does anyone have any idea of how good it is? I'm not 100% sure if it's the "the original was the best", or that it got better, perhaps. My Ignition 3.0 was solid though, so I'm not sure.
