Since apparently around 2000 steps of walking is equal to 100 calories (supposedly), I always thought 30 songs of heavy (without combo of 6000+ steps) would be burning around 500-600 calories nonstop. This isn't considering of steps in DDR are different from walking steps, but it also counts jumps I suppose.
I know the game's own calorie burning counter is screwed up beyond reason because 30 songs are certainly not 1200-1400 calories burned. Also, the arcade of DDRX2 seems to be a TAD accurate giving 17 calories for poseidon's 290ish steps. (only one I remember besides 35 for Fuchikan Candy's 530ish)
I usually do 30-40 songs on heavy daily through endless with one break to lose weight with each above 280 steps and mostly in the mid/high 8s and 9-foots.
Anyone have their own estimations?
Edit: I found this nifty calorie calculator based on heart rate. My heartrate was usually 2.5 to 3 BPS (150-180 BPM) for the entire duration of the exercise except for maybe the first songs that needed me to warm up. It says I burned around 1000-1200ish total today, which I've done 41 so far. I wonder how accurate it is. >_<

http://www.triathlontrainingblog.com/calculators/calories-burned-calculator-based-on-average-heart-rate/ Use this website to better gauge your calories burned. Take your heart rate after a song and make an average. DDR calorie calculates are extremely rough estimates. I guarantee you that I burn less calories today playing Cutie Chaser morning mix than I did playing B4U Light when I first started out. Because of being better in shape and more efficient movements, I burn less calories overall. Your heart rate will indicate how hard you pushed yourself regardless of heart rate. Not to mention a song with 200 steps on singles will burn less calories than 200 steps on doubles that go from pad to pad. Counting steps do not take this factor into account. Always base it on heart rate and how long you keep it there.

I just looked at that link, too. XD
And if this is so, I burn a LOT more than I thought. At least 300-500 more based on this calculator. Despite doing heavy, I sually never bracket unless needed on bosses and I try to add arm and body movements to my exercise to burn more.

Yeah because someone who brackets will likely burn a LOT less calories than someone who doesn't use bar and turns at every cross over.
