So both Sony and Nintendo have announced their next generation hand held console.
Which one do you pick? PSP2? N3DS? or both?

A brief PSP2 outline:
* Forward- and backward-facing cameras.
* HD wide-screen
* Twin Thumb-sticks
* Rear track-pad

Also, there have been mentioned that PSP2 has dropped the UMD disc design, rumors saying that the games delivery will be similar to PSPGo with games being digitally distributed only...

I'm going to be boring, and wait until either one has a single game worth playing, before looking at either of them.
It took the DS and PSP sometihng like 12 months between their release, and the first killer app :{

Dr.D : I'm waiting for more informations on the psp phone (called "Xperia Play") too.
I saw a short video showing that he can lauch psx games (it might be the games that are available on the PlayStation Store only).
But one of my question is : will this phone be able to use psp games ?
If yes, i'll certainly get this phone. If not, i don't know.
The phone isn't perfect but it could be great :
- When he will be out, some phone will be more powerfull than this one (dual-core processor, wtf).
- The screen isn't centered with the buttons.
Anyway, we will get a lot more informations in mid-february.
The psp2 and n3ds are something else. I'm surprised that they announced the psp2, i through that all we got was rumors (nothing official from sony).
PS : Posting with my phone so my post might not be accurate.

All Android phones can run PSX games!
I don't think PSP games are that far off. It depends whether the Playstation Phone runs includes PSP archetecture inside it, or used emulation to run them. If they're run on an emulator, then the code will be availible on all other Android phones within days of the phone coming out.
The really big deal about the Playstion Phone it includes a proper comtroller, designed specifically for games. The major problem with Android gaming right now is that in order to play SNES or PSX games properly, you have to carry Wii controller around with you, and play them on that. I think simply having the buttons and a shit-ton of processing power is the real draw for the phone. It seems very specifically designed for geeks, rather than casual gamers.

Nintendo 3DS is to be released on the following days:
26 February in Japan
25 March in Europe
27 March in North America.
As for which one I'll get, I'll be like Tyma and wait it out. I don't have the money to buy as much stuff as I want.

"MAGGLE" |
I'd like to stand by Sony and pick PSP2, but going digital distribution is a nightmare with my uncertainty on what address should I pin my future account to or how to buy point cards outside the country.
The 3DS has one thing going for me, Megaman Legends 3*. But I'm not really too fond of 3D right now (especially if I have to put special glasses OVER my glasses to really enjoy the view), even though it might be goggles-free.
Both arguments are waiting in line next to price and availability.
*I could end up disappointed with that though. Inafune is gone and Capcom is taking opinions from fans. It could resort in a not so good game.

You can turn off the 3D effect altogether. There's a slider on the right side that adjusts the intensity of the 3D effect. Oh, and judging from the videos I've seen, you don't need special glasses either.Post #10 · Posted at 2011-01-24 12:55:33am 14.4 years ago

You don't need glasses for the 3DS.
Anyway I would pay the reserve for the 3DS if the release line up was not trash. I'll wait until Ocarina Of Time 3D comes out.
As for the PSP2, there's not enough info for me to decide to get it or not. Depends on Games, price, and so on. If that picture is a prototype of the real PSP2, then I'm going to hate it. (flip the joysticks with the buttons/D-pad for the love of god

I really don't know what one would be better, I think that 3DS was only made because on how 3D movies are so popular now, but if the 3D hype dies, bad news for Nintendo

I'll pick the 3DS when there is an interesting library of games released for it. Personally, I'm not interested on the PSP2 (neither I was on the first PSP).

Out of the two I think I will be getting the 3DS, but I think I'm going to be waiting like everyone else. I took a look at the list of games and most that of the games aren't coming out on its release.

The 3DS looks far more promising, I'm sure Nintendo will find ways to make 3D worth the admission price. The PSP2 will be just a PSP with more horsepower...but nothing that apple cannot do on their iphone/touch series. Seriously, Nintendo was right when they said that Apple is their biggest threat in the portable market right now.

I wonder about Harvest Moon 3D on PSP2.
Hopefully more better than Harvest Moon on Wii.

Not loving the 3DS. Region locking and the £239 cost here are pretty much insta-turnoffs.
Also if PSP2 doesn't have a way for playing UMDs I own (which is very unlikely), that'll be an insta-turnoff too.

You can call me a Nintendo fanboy if you'd like, but I will continue to support N3DS because Nintendo has proven to take a "gimmick" and use it in ways our imaginations wouldn't come close to.
