"DDR-ing regularly again!~" |
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Afterburner metal dance pad's USB cable would work on the PS3. I am getting a PS3 for Christmas and plan on buying DDR for PS3.

Not sure if it will, but it's likely that it won't. Try getting a ps2-ps3 converter, there ARE a few that work with dance mats, and I'm aware that the problem is often discussed on stepmania's controllers and adapters forum. I just can never remember which specific adapters are recommended.

Whats the difference of a PS2 to PS3 DDR Dance Pad Converter http://www.amazon.com/PS2-PS3-Dance-Converter-PlayStation-3/dp/B000WE5HRK and a PS2 to PS3 Controller Converter Adapter http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Controller-Converter-Adapter-Playstation-2/dp/B000NPSAJU ?

well, if that usb to ps3 'cable' is just that, it likely won't perform the necessary conversions to map your dancepad's input to ps3 output. A full converter, like the more expensive one you listed, is more likely to work properly.
If the small cable DID work, I would be very surprised.
Also, that $10 converter, if you look at what others buy with it, it seems that it's the one that will work with dance pads. Might want to give that one a try, if your PS3 is one of the ones that is listed as being supported.

I'm not sure. I will be getting a PS3 for Christmas, and I want to buy the new DDR game, but I also want my metal dance mats to work on it as well. I will probably buy the dance pad converter, but looking at the reviews one person really likes it and the other hates it.
I will most likely have a PS3 with more then 80 GBs this year as well.

The USB port works for the PS3; just remember that you need the PS3 remote to access the XMB and other menus.

So should I just hook up the Move controller as well?
