Be it an official DDR, ITG or unofficial simfile for your own project.
What StepMania build do you use in syncing your simfiles?
I use the following:
StepMania 3.9+ Redux
StepMania 4 b6
StepMania 4 Alpha 5
StepMania 3.9 (original - what I mean the vanilla 3.9 ones)
StepMania 3.9a
StepMania 3.9 (AldoMX's build)
OpenITG (with ITG 2 and 3 theme installed)
Dance With Intensity
All of them have the GlobalOffset default to absolute 0 except for SM 3.9a.

Honestly, it shouldn't matter what build of Stepmania you use to sync your files. If you adjust the settings to match your hardware, then when you sync a file, it should play fine in any build.

ddreamstudio is my weapon of choice, since I can sync visually against the actual waveform (I have a horrible sense of offset). It also has a handy lowpass filter which makes basic syncing almost trivial - a beat at the beginning of the red here, count a few off, another beat at the beginning of the red there, autofill and tweak, et voilà.
I don't step anything in ddreamstudio though - oITG is the program I like for that.

I'm expecting an awesome response from silenttype01 because I really like the simfiles that that person produces.
I use OpenITG and a decent ear, but I don't think that's really enough sometimes.

No, a decent ear is not enough.

hahaha what.
I also use dreamstudio. Telperion has shown me his method of syncing with that program and I have found it to be a pretty good method. He uses a low wave filter, but I switch it up between low and high wave filters. It was the only way for me to sync e-motion's ogg file for an ITG machine.
Before dreamstudio, I used the inferior stepmania offset adjustment. I still use Mixmeister to find a bpm for songs that have a constant bpm.

I've been also using that one too.
But anyways, does anyone know how to get the offset of a music (what I mean is when the first measure comes up, the music plays automatically?)

ddreamstudio? Looks like I'll have to look into that.
