jubeat plus / jukebeat (iOS/Android)

Ooh looks like I might have to add jubeat to my collection of Android rhythm game apps (I already have BeatX and Beats)! This is quite an exciting update and makes me want to try it out.

Konami has been hard at work on a major overhaul of their Jubeat app for both iOS and Android. Over the last few weeks, they have been trickling out information as to what fans of the series could expect when the massive update drops. Let’s take a look at what they have been sharing with fans!

Jubeat Modes

For starters, it seems that there will be two main modes of play, Standard Mode and Plus Mode.

With Standard mode, you can unlock songs and charts through a gacha mechanism with coins that you have purchased. You can also watch songs that you have yet to unlock. In order to play these, you will need to spend your saved up stamina points.

The Plus Mode will allow you to play the songs that you have purchased with previous Jubeat Plus packs without having to use any of your saved-up stamina. It will be the same experience that players have come grown to be used to with Jubeat Plus.

Jubeat Lab

Next up they announced that Jubeat Lab will be making a return. With Jubeat Lab, you can download edit charts that fans of the game have made and uploaded to the Konami servers for players to download and play. You can even make your own edit charts for songs that you have unlocked through gacha or songs that you have purchased through the Jubeat Shop.

Jubeat Markers

Where this might not be a big deal to some, this is huge for me as I am used to a specific marker when I play Jubeat. Konami announced that all 44 markers from the arcade version of Jubeat will be available to players along with a brand new marker that was made exclusively for the updated Jubeat app.

Jubeat Music Player

Last but certainly not least, they have announced that you can convert your jBlocks to purchase a 30-day subscription to the Jubeat Music Player, which will allow you to listen to any of the songs in the Jubeat series since its inception. Even better, they state that the music can be listened to in the background so you won’t need to have the Jubeat app active to listen to the songs.

Konami has still yet to announce when the updated Jubeat app will be hitting the respective app stores, but I can assume that with all of this information being released, it will be sooner rather than later.

Hmmm, this is indeed interesting...if the game can be booted up offline with Plus Mode being a playable option, then I'd give Konami a round of applause.

Honestly they should've rebranded the game as another Ultimate Mobile game so it had the same music player as IIDX. But it's cool that there's a way to listen to each game's OSTs. Is there a known way to get jBlocks? I don't think the article mentions it anywhere aside from the paragraph about the music player

I agree, it would have been great to be branded as an UM game. We all know how anxious I am for the DDR one... I post how often about it haha!

It’s times like this that I really wish I knew and understood Japanese. I have downloaded it but I’m quite lost!

I would use a phone with google translate to help navigating menus. Just my luck, servers are busted lol, god bless the world of service based, always online enabled games.

Well... atm, the game just fails to load/link in both OS. On iOS, after tutorial, an communication error has been displayed, i can't advance more than that. On Android, it gets the Play Service link error.
The jubeat twitter account already "knows" about it, since they notice an server overload, but idk, maybe is region-lock stuff??

There's a lot of content on this revamped app. I mean A LOT. There's several hundred new songs and it's very much almost up to date to festo in terms of content.

First the bad:
- The game is really sluggish. Long load times, getting to where you need is a bit of a chore from options to even getting to the Plus mode (the non gacha portion of the game).
- Timing feels off.

Notes and observations
- If you don't want to deal with the gacha system there's a TON of song packs available to buy but requires jCubes (I think they can only be earned buy using real world currency) to buy them.
- Sweet Rain and Snow Goose return.
- Some of the new licensed songs are quite long, full versions perhaps.

Okaaaaay, I just finished playing the new updated jubeat plus on iOS.

I'll try to keep it simple. This is what I have to say:

Old Version jubeat plus PROS:
• Can be played seamlessly after booting up
• Can be played offline
• Has interchangeable AC themes
• Desired music packs can be purchased directly
• Timing doesn't take too long to get used to
• Has a decent clean song sorting system

Old Version jubeat plus CONS:
• Despite having a decent sorting system, it isn't optimal. Sifting through hundreds of songs is a chore
• Konami dropped support for the game after around the time of jubeat Prop AC





New Version "jubeat" (mobile) PROS:
• Has just about all original songs and several licenses from the old version PLUS several omitted songs (eg. only my railgun)
• Song selection is huge and seems to have all original AC songs up to jubeat festo AND a bunch of the new licenses
• Initial songs available from the start exceeds the old version's
• Has a better song sorting system with more options than the old version
• Has more customization options than the old version
• Some of your previous purchases from the old version will carry over to the new "plus mode" (requires no stamina)
• jubeat Lab. makes its return, and a music player (like in ULTIMATE IIDX MOBILE) is added


New Version "jubeat" (mobile) CONS:
• Has a stamina system, gacha system, premium currency
• Can only be played while connected to the internet (online), otherwise, the game is unplayable
• Loading...Loading...Loading... for everything---one of the caveats of the online-only transition
• The interface feels a bit cluttered, but at least finding songs amongst hundreds is more convenient than in the old version
• They are now using ads to further monetize
• Game crashes often. I suspect more up-to-date devices might not have this issue
• Eats up battery power fast








My Final Thoughts on the new updated "jubeat" (mobile):

It looks like Konami has definitely put in some effort here; the gacha system uses COINS, and coins can only be obtained via jBlock conversion, playing songs, daily logins, and complimentary presents/gifts. It costs 1000 coins per gacha attempt, which will unlock a locked random song's BASIC difficulty...on the next gacha attempt, I suspect it would be possible for that same song's ADVANCED difficulty to be randomly obtained, which means each difficulty level for each song would need to be gacha'd individually.....so~, unlocking all difficulties for a single song is a 3-step gacha process ($30 USD, if you wanna straight-up buy jBlocks AND miraculously have perfect RNG on those three attempts).

As for me, I will never spend any money on this game. Game's Free-To-Play, so I'll keep playing it for "Free" as benevolently conferred upon us by Konami. I'll just earn coins by playing songs + daily logins in order to try my hand at unlocking stuff. I will play this game casually on my iPhone, and I will continue to play the old "jubeat plus" hardcore on my iPad.

My guess right now, is how do you do for getting pass the tutorial... i still get the comm error, and i don’t see any future fix or announce for that...

I got an error after the tutorial. In fact downloading the initial files caused errors every single time. BUT for some reason they all went through after.

In Plus mode, which pack is 檄 in? I can't seem to find it in any of the available Qubell packs... Which is weird considering it has been in Jubeat Plus before for like 1 week.

Were you able to solve this? I tried to open the game again today and I'm still getting the same Google Play Service error

Nothing... i’m still with those errors, and i’m completely give up, this app/update sucks... i literally lost all my previous packs. KONMAI.

I bought several of the new packs and encountered a real bad bug with EMOTiON TRiPPER, the charts won't load everytime I select the song it automatically fail me.

Already done, but the 400_7_400 is still there, both my iPad and Android phone has the SAME error.
