Demo's out today, though I am enraged my Microshaft's policies on not allowing Xbox Live silver members to download demos until a few weeks after they come out. What a load of junk.
Anyway, no thread for it yet.
Game is looking somewhat good so far.

I tried the demo out earlier, and I must say the quest mode is an interesting departure for the series. Songs are a bit more challenging than previous installments (especially World Tour). The songs in the demo are Black Sabbath's "Children of the Grave", Foo Fighters' "No Way Back", and Slash's "Ghost", with Dethklok's "Bloodlines" rounding out the set list. For the first time I'm actually looking forward to a Guitar Hero game.

Played the demo on drums. Even though I was Silver, my cousin was a Gold member so he downloaded the demo and I got access to the demo.
Drums is very challenging for Expert+ based on what I've seen.

Played the Demo on hard Guitar, god something felt different, the song selection felt more like the early GH games than the band-oriented ones.

That was exactly what Neversoft wanted to convey. They wanted it to be more like Guitar Hero III in terms of song selection.

Very excited for this game myself; Guitar Hero games on the Wii are always excellent thanks to the developer Vicarious Visions. I hope that Konami can take a leaf out of their book and give Wii owners proper DLC and whatnot for future versions of their own games.

Also, wow; I guess Activision likes making up for how Konami has tortured Europe so much, is it me or was this released there a few days before the US release?

Despite their drawbacks, Activision are very good at game releases and usually treat all regions fairly in that regard. I've completed most of Quest mode. Despite not being a Rush fan myself, 2112 was presented brilliantly and the added storyline narrated by the members of the band is like a musical opera or sci fi story.
Spoilers below for those that want some details:
The last venue is very difficult. I actually ended up going through on vocals just so that I could pass it and reach the end. Despite the difficulties it is very fun and gives a great effect of awesomeness and achievement. Gene Simmons who narrates the game also turns out to be the actual Demi-God of Rock (nothing major but I wasn't expecting it) and you play through two songs to battle the "Beast" who then becomes your last venue "The Beast Dethroned" (you ride on his back and it's strangely cool looking) for the Demi-God's bonus songs.
Then you can go back and play through all of the songs in each venue again as a "Domination Mode". It's brilliant just because you get EVERY POWER IN THE GAME AT ONCE which means that as soon as you have enough energy in the star power gauge you can activate it and pretty much play through the whole of any song without it ending and with a huge multiplier. The maximum number of stars you can get is 35, then the "recovery" stars you charge up with Axel's power are added in at the end to make up the remaining 5 for 40 total stars per song. It seriously adds to playability because you could be there ages earning all the stars in each venue.
I actually honestly wish that DDR could be more like this sometimes because it's one of the most fun music and rhythm games I've played, probably since Elite Beat Agents.

Need I mention the Rocky Horror Picture Show DLC is epic win?
I almost bought WoR to get instruments to accompany my RB3 purchase, but ended up getting The Beatles one instead. Is Neversoft still ridiculously overcharting everything? Have things gotten better since World Tour (ugh)?

Now that I just found out there is Rocky Horror Picture Show DLC, I wanna buy this game. Now to figure out how a drum controller will actually fit in my room...

The Rock Band one is actually not that big (about the width of my office chair), and you can always de-telescope it and such for storage

I've actually seen the setup over at my friend's house. I know it may not be that big, but I should of said it's more about where I can store it.
My TV is also like not even a foot from the ground so finding a distance to not make it so awkward to play will be troublesome.
But yeah I really wanna play Time Warp. I can't get the song out of my head after they played the song twice a day for a week on our PA system ( don't ask

every note they ever placed was properly placed on a sound, therefore nothing was over charted. if you dont like power chords then shut up and dont play guitar hero.

Okay, I picked up the game today by sacrificing some Christmas money I had gotten from some relatives, so far;
Good things
-We've had an excellent song selection so far, lots of good stuff.
-Graphics/engine looks way better than World Tour for sure
-Power-ups and Quickplay challenges are an interesting idea
Bad things
-Gimmicks?
-This game should be renamed Chord Hero at the rate we're going on some songs.
-I'm also unsure about how they arranged the career this time. I'm not quite sure that the sorting of the songs is difficulty based here, but thematic.

"Charlie isn't real" |
(Since the GH Is Dead thread got locked) -
NEWS:
Activision says Guitar Hero franchise "not cancelled", is put on "hiatus"
To summarize, the Guitar Hero franchise is not as officially dead as we thought it was back in the February report. Activision now says that the franchise will be put in a "long nap" to focus more on other games like Call of Duty (no surprise there...)
So basically, there won't be any GH games for 2011...that's a relief, it should deserve a good break from the constant releases it's been having over the past 4 years now, does this mean more DLC is likely? Who knows, i'll have more on this news as time passes on. This is probably going to bring smiles to many GH fans out there knowing the franchise isn't ENTIRELY dead.

In before new GH is revealed at E3 (as just Guitar Hero, no version indicator or anything), we don't see anything more of it until over a year later, when they shift it to one platform and reveal it at a fan event in a completely rebooted state, then release it on one console only, followed by the rest a few months too late.
Either that, or the whole "GH is over" thing was just a facade for a massive reboot. Shaking up the people who forgot about the franchise in preparation for the new generation.

Doubt it, from the news report it says that there won't be any GH titles for this year, sure there actually MAY be a teaser trailer for next year's game but i also doubt THAT being shown at E3 2011. I also don't think it would be economically correct to release the game for one console, then slowly releasing it to other consoles as the months go by, almost every major game that has been coming out has been released on mutliple platforms on Day 1. With the exception of DLC (hurr durr Black Ops DLc first comes on Xbox Live).Quote: Lirodon

This could really be the case. Vicarious Visions is pretty much gone, so who else but to get another developer (i.e. Neversoft) to re-create a new Guitar Hero series? You guys do relaize that they have trademarked the name "Guitar Villian" for about 1 or 2 years now, heck maybe even more. I have a feeling we may either be seeing a new GH reboot game for 2012 or Guitar Villian, which would probably be an "M" rated music rhythm game due to excessive language and suggestive themes and other stuff to fit with it's "name".....lololol, i wouldn't be surprised to see a DJ Villian soon too, but how in the hell would that work?
