Damn that is going to be epic. It's like UMK3, but better.

i cant freaking wait. this really looks great, after how bland deadly alliance, deception and armageddon were this is what MK needs. i also like the incorporation of SF style EX moves and supers (the x-ray moves being the supers), i think this combined with what looks like a UMK3 based engine will lead to some really solid gameplay. i havent been this excited for MK since deception (because it was supposed to fix DA flaws), i hope my excitement is justified.

MK vs DCU felt like more of the same, but censored because DC wouldnt let them go with the usual M rating. they really tried, and i can see the effort, but klose kombat and air kombat fail so hard. without those, it would have been a notch above armageddon. it has a lot of broken stuff, but imo thats just mortal kombat, its fun that way. if you go online, every other opponent is superman (in a tier of his own).

The twitching on the stage fatality is a nice touch.
Also, any news on the story for this game? I ask because it feels like Ed Boon has been trying to reboot the series back to MKII's story.

I've been excited for this for a while now. It's definitely looking more fun than most of the 3D Mortal Kombats. My main worry is that I'm going to suck at it as bad as I did with the previous 2D MKs. The even more brutal Fatalities are a nice touch, too. Kung Lao's was nothing new (besides the half-holding) after playing Shaolin Monks, and The Pit 2 (WHERE THE HELL DID THOSE SPIKES COME FROM) reminded me of Deception's Golden Desert with the organ(s) sticking out, but the head split at the end of Scorpion's Fatality was AMAZING.
Also, Mileena in her alternate outfit from Deception. Howie like.
One thing I'm wondering: They've said that the storyline is going to change from the previous trip through MK1-3. Midway has already mentioned that it could potentially mean a different champion of Mortal Kombat, but what about other things? Like...
- Will certain characters still befriend each other and join forces, like Liu Kang and Johnny Cage?
- Will Sub-Zero still die, and if so, will he become Noob Saibot again?
- Speaking of Sub-Zero, what if the younger brother agrees to become a cyborg ninja instead of rebelling like in the previous storyline?
- What about Jade? Will she still choose to side with Kitana as opposed to obeying Shao Kahn? (Last one might be too far ahead of the game's storyline.)
...And frankly, I liked MK vs. DCU aside from the watered-down Fatalities. Klose Kombat was pretty lame, but I liked Air Kombat and the possibility of doing extra damage at the risk of getting your attacks reversed on you. The Test Your Might for increasing/decreasing damage from wall hits was pretty fun, too (maybe because I'm just awesome at button-mashing). Personally, I didn't find any Superman players online who didn't suck, but everyone and their mom played as Scorpion and spammed the same three moves.

Note on the plot.
It seems Boon is taking the story based on the alternate universe of MK1 to MK3, but that may flesh out upon 2011.
Quote: Plot on Wiki
Developer Ed Boon describes the game as an altered re-telling of the events of the original first three Mortal Kombat games (MK, MK II, and MK3).
...Raiden is about to be killed by Shao Kahn, and just before he delivers the last blow, he [Raiden] sends a mental message to his earlier self, so the camera rewinds back to Mortal Kombat 1. The Raiden from back then gets a message and he doesn't know what's going on, but he knows something bad's going to happen, and the game spans Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3, retelling the story with an enlightened Raiden, and he's changing the course of things, so everything you've seen happen before – Liu Kang winning, the guys turning into cybernetic ninjas, are changed around, so you might see a character become cybernetic who wasn't before, and so you see a different version [of events].
Hector Sanchez later added in a different interview it took place after Armageddon:
The story begins with Raiden, just when he is about to be killed by Shao Kahn in the events that happen after Armageddon. In a last effort, he sends a message to himself in the past, in the era of "Mortal Kombat" the first game. The rest of the story follows that Raiden's past and shows him trying to understand the visions and messages he gets from himself in the future and trying to prevent the events that lead to destruction of all realities.
It was revealed that the player would have the ability to play as multiple characters during the course of story

Looks like the MK team got some ideas and took some lessons from DC Universe.
