Who else uses PSP Revolution?

I enjoy playing PSP revolution whenever I'm on the go.

I like it a lot and was wondering who else uses it and what themes and versions you have for it. I'm pretty sure the original creator jumped ship on this project a while ago which is too bad cause I really wish this could be updated to run more like SM on the computer.

Anyways, let me know who else plays it and your theme/version.

I have the 0.3 build and running an Extreme theme.

I use the same version and have been using the normal theme. While it gets the job done as far as simulation, one of the things I did not like about it was the fact it did not have many options for the songs you play. Wished it had a songwheel interface as well.

I used to have PSP Revolution on my fat PSP-1000. It was great that it was similar to stepmania but you can take it anywhere! Anyways, I had v0.3 and Extreme too but I had a 32 mb memory stick which limited me to little songs (Like 2 or 3 songs)...

I found a v0.4, I thought it was fake, (didn't know since I was new to PSPR and Hacking) but I was able to play 10 songs (All of them being DDR Extreme Bosses and songs). My theme on v0.4 was SuperNOVA.

Now, I'm trying to find my PSP and charger so I can play it again .

I'm thinking of hacking my PSP or get another one and hack it to play 5th mix from ps1.

At least 20min every day.

It's a pocket stepmania, that's awesome.

Too bad the lack of mods, no mines, freezes bugs, roll générating weird arrows...
but i still love the game.

I tried (for ages) to take video of me playing a "hard" stuff with an ok score but the wwy i play + no "foot" (something for the video recorder, i don't know how you call that) making this too hard to do

I used to use the defaut thème (i modified the sounds and the background music).
Mainly because i don't like how the "marvelous/perfects/ect (grade)" are on other themes.
Also, i "modified" arrows to have the good colors : 4th = red, 8th = blue, 16th = green or yellow (itg or ddr style). You just have to swith few names.

2 weeks i tried a X2 theme on ZIv. Some graphics were great, some other not. One at least (i think two) were taken from an SN2 pspr theme. But i really like the arrows and the grades (marvelous, ect).

And recently, i found a sweet theme (static lullaby). But there is few things unfinished or i didn't like. So i mixed it with the X2 arrows above and some of my stuffs, and there is my theme :











PS : Btw 0.4 is not fake. 0.4 is the same as 0.3 but can run on slim psp (2000 and 3000). I'm running on 0.4.
Too bad this great homebrew will be never finished
Also, i play some ddr songs too on pspr. Sometimes, i discover stepcharts by playing on pspr during a train travel on something ahah (before seing them on video or on a stepmania-like).

I was kinda hoping some people here were a little computer savvy and could help update that game.

Pan, I do like how you changed the note colors to match DDR. Would you mind sharing that?

In fact i'm not sure if i changed the colors of those arrows (can't remember) but i did it for the main theme and other themes.

Also, those arrows looks more colorfull. That's why i like it i think.

A little problem with this arrows (in fact, it's a in-game problem).
All the 32th will be orange (this, is good. Same color as itg btw).
BUT, the 12th/24th are broken. They are hafl purple (the good color) and half orange (wtf).

Usually i just get rid of orange arrows and i have 2 purple arrows files. So my 12th/24th won't be broken anymore (but the 32th are all purple too).
Doing this is simple :
- delete "Arrow_Orange.png".
- copy "Arrow_Yellow.png" (the purple arrows) and rename it in "Arrow_Orange.png".


Where/when are you playing this game Dr.D ?

EDIT : And yeah, i still hope (a bit) that someone will do a 0.5 one day or an other stepmania game for psp.

I play often. I take buses and metro everyday so I usually play when ever I'm not sleeping haha.

I really hope someone is willing to make a new installment to fix a lot of these issues and add more options.

Lol i found an other "bug" (i mean, it's the first time i see it).
If the stepchart is UBER HUGE it won't load (overflow).

I can play DF songs with 3k/4k arrows and 8min long but i tried a song with 15k arrows (33min long), it didn't work.
I don't know what is the limit.

I think some of you noticed this other little bug too :
- If the stepchart is over but the music isn't, the song still goes and you have to wait until the song finish to get the result screen.
- On the oposite, if the song ends before the end of the stepchart (that could be weird but possible) you'll go to the result screen even if you didn't hit all the arrows.


Also, i want to get better at this game for many reasons :
- My computer as a weird timing so i play less on keyboard.
- The closest arcade near me (55-60km) is gone since 6 weeks.
- Pspr is fun.

So, i need some challenges
If you have any good padable song that you like (7-17 range old scale) with a decent bpm (pspr has x2 maximum... so 16th stream at 140bpm is... ok but when it comes to 24th stream :s) just tell me.

I like challenges, i would prefer do some at the arcade but it won't happend a lot.

I have two challenge for now :
- Get a AAAA/Quad (even it doesn't exist on pspr), AAA MFC if you prefer on a official song. (i worked on Why not, closest was 6perfect).
- Get AA on every Dragonforce songs from the Dragonforce pack (13-16 range old scale. Some charts have a lot of rolls so some parts are bugged, this makes this even harder. The songs themself are already enough hard...). For now i did : 6 on 33 songs.
It will be very long and difficult i guess.

So if you have any ideas, just tell me.

Oddly enough my First MFC on PSPR was also my First MFC on DDR X AC, Reach Up Expert.

I am still half heartily hoping someone creates a new program similar to SM for the PC to run on the PSP.

And ya, there are lots and LOTS of bugs like the ones you mentioned up there. Sometimes it will just crash on my if I scroll over the wrong song.

I think i never got the crash bug (maybe once, long time ago). A friend told me that she's afraid to put new songs in folder because sometimes it crashes the entire folder (i think it's like what you said).
I have 1.4gb of songs, and i don't have this problem :s
I also had (before) all the X and SN2 folder (don't forgot to delete videos if you do that lol) and it worked well.

Are the song crashing particular ? I mean, 2 audio file in the same folder, weird sm/dwi file ?
Even when i put songs with negative bpm, it didn't crash pspr. I have juste a weird file or an empty one (tsusurvivorgamush with lot of mines and neg bpm everywhere was empty for exemple).
