If people don't already know, there's a location test of DanceDanceRevolution X2 in Adventure Island, Southend.

This thread is for people to post feedback from the UK location test here.

I'll start off:

Everything about the game is fine apart from the following points:

1. The game tends to have frame rate issues when 2 players are playing. Graphic hardware doesn't seem to be up to the job.
2. All songs will start on time and then drift late as the song goes on.
3. The description text in the modifier menu will overflow outside of the textbox if the line is too long.
4. USB unlocking MUST be implemented. Otherwise players will not be happy about Japan getting all songs and us lagging behind.

Yes about 2 and 3. However when I was there 1P left was borked so we didn't do 2 Players. Anyway, sync is quite noticeably off, to the point where my Greats outnumbered everything else (100+g Full Combo on Dazzlin' Darlin...)

Other than that, yeah, I like it. I like it a lot.

Sync was definitely better than X however drifting was very apparent and made it hard to score. I felt as if that songs thats had videos or at least more videos than others would knock the FPS causing it to drift.

Song selections were interesting and will appeal to both hardcore and casual players.

USB unlocking would definitely make the game more appealing since we don't have e-amusement as its not a viable option outside of asia.

right
i love this game
i visit there slot
mainly in the morning when no ones around
but i must say
sometimes the beat goes off
but the thing that makes me angry
is how short the timer is
i only get to SN2 and i only have 10 seconds to pick a song
and the scoring is wrong
i played La Senorita and i got 20 gates (because of the timing -.-)
and i got a A full combo i was not very angry
the another thing
WHY DONT WE HAVE CAPTAIN JACK Cry
other than that this machine is the best (EU) i have played EVER!

i was very angry*
not not very angry Blushing

while i have not been to the test location myself (and won't be going -- i'm in the US haha), i'd like to point out that X has plenty of frame rate issues as well

they aren't as apparent as this sounds, but they're still super annoying when they do happen. i've found it to be impossible to go to the arcade and not have at least one frame rate problem, especially when playing with multiple people

i think the computers chosen for the US/Europe aren't quite to the point they need to be for DDR to work well, and what i'm hearing about X2 only supports this theory more

I've been along a couple of times. All in all, the machine seems pretty good as far as I could tell. As has been mentioned though, I did notice that the charts seemed a little off-sync at times (Smooooch and Second Heaven come to mind), although that could have just been me. I also agree that USB unlocking may be a necessary substitute for e-Amuse, especially bearing in mind that some sort of tracking will be needed for Replicant D-Action to work. Otherwise, it looks promising so far - it should be interesting to see how well the new pads will work when they're available.

Played it the other day and definitely agree with point 2 in the first post. I thought the music and charts were good though. Got some AAAs (not PFC) on expert proving that you can score on it somewhat. Some videos can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MMbadgerboy

1. KDE needs to use more powerful hardware, to get rid of this issue. Maybe an upgraded version of Bemani-PC can do the job.
2. I think its hardware/software...
3. noticed on the pics. Surely needs to be fixed.
4**. Its a requeriment for all players from non-eAMUSEMENT connected cabinets. Make this an OPTIONAL item, handled by the probability of eAMUSEMENT on the regions. If eAMUSEMENT are enabled, only USB will serve as EDIT DATA*. If the arcade is in LOCAL MODE, you can use both features. This can help for Asian Version too, in countries when eAMUSEMENT are not available (yet), like Philipines.
-
* EDIT DATA wishlist:
1. Make the data compatible to all 4 regions (J, A, U, E)
2. Allow the use of AREA SELECTION and modifiers, more like console version.
3. Optimize the speed of the Editor.
4. Allow sign the edit with the profile name (in conjunction with USB profiles)
-
**USB wishlist
1. Make more USB brands more compatibles with the game.
2. In order to make USB profiles, make a software for manage the profiles, linked with KONAMI ID to provide safety. Only 1 profile per USB and per KONAMI ID.
2.1. To make USB profiles work, the profile software must make a profile before 1st use (in order to make a DDR CODE). If not, only EDITS will be used.
2.2. To keep the profile updated, the players needs to check the USB records via DDR profile manager.
-
eAMUSEMENT:
1. Allow operators use Dynamic IP to connect.
2. Reduce the montly fee.
3. Ask the arcade owner directly about the system, not using intermediaries.
-
Distribution:
1. Make distribution more globalized and announce the ship/release dates with time.
-
Extras:
1. Make a official site for this game, for US/EU players.

By the way, where's my present?

It's made local news: echo-news.co.uk.

One blindingly inaccuracy though.

That's really weird. there must be like nothing else to report down there
but i guess it could mean that Konami will take the release a bit more seriously? if it really is as popular as is being said

any news is good news. you don't see arcade games making it on so many main stream news outlets.

A sexy bloke I met in Skegness last weekend was telling me about this. Glad I couldn't go as £1 for two songs is a rip off, even if it is an early play on the new game.

It is, hence that's why we played the hell out of it when it was 3 songs per £1, you know, the STANDARD price for a game of DDR. Tongue

Early reports of it shows updated software with FULL default song list, no courses yet and drifting issue is still present.

Version number is JDX:E:A:A:2010090800.

FIRE FIRE is unlocked funnily enough.
