First off i know you guys are aginst these bootleg extremes but this is just a temporary solution until i can find an original bootrom. That being said i need to know how to install this thing. Here is what i got two eeprom chip looking things a install cd and a game cd but no instructions on how to install. I just want to play my ddr its been about two months.

Thanks,
Jon

There are plenty of people hanging around here that are not adverse (or are hypocritical if they are adverse) to using bootlegged 573-based DDR games (since the newest is now 8 years old) for private use (i.e. not in an arcade), but most people are against distributing these bootlegs (and let's not even talk about running them in an arcade - that would be naughty).

The usual way these work is that you make sure the GX700 has the original 700A01 boot ROM, and insert the install CD. Then, once it has installed you replace the boot ROM with the horrid bootleg EPROM and put in the game disk.

However, other bootlegs require you to have the bootleg EPROM in to even install (i.e. you install the bootleg EPROM, then insert the install CD).

I'd suggest trying the install CD with the original boot ROM, and it that fails, then install the bootleg EPROM.

Finally: Those single mix bootlegs (and in fact any bootleg requiring some weird modboard) are totally redundant and serves only to put money in bootleggers hands. There exist (on the Internet) bootlegs of system 573 games that do NOT require a mod board.

Give it a try with the mod board in, it might work. These bootlegs are all different, so the only way to know is to try.

Out of curiousity, how is your boot ROM broken? I've never seen one die before (unlike the surface-mount EEPROMs, I've seen those go bad before).

That's unfortunate. You need a new stock boot ROM.

JU707 on eBay USA used to have several of them (don't see any at the mo - and expect him to have ramped up the price if he does, as people have been buying them all). Failing that, a Fisherman's Bait/Hyper Bishi Bashi Champ motherboard will work (the motherboard and boot ROM is the same).

I think im just gonna have to buy this fishermans bait pcb off e bay because i cant just find the bootrom it self. Well i guess it will give me some spare parts like the 573 board and a cd rom drive. looking on the bright side.

Yeah, it never harms to have a spare GX700 board kicking around, in case one of the flash EEPROMs goes bad. The CD-Rom is likely to be junk though (those things are more than 10 years old).

Have you tried your local Konami distro and seen if they have spares (that'd be Betson)? Unlikely, but maybe worth a try.
