Help with folder names in Stepmania

Does anybody know how to name group folders a name and have it show up differently in the game itself, ala Beware's EXTREME? If I just use usual alphabetical ordering (Even the "DDR/Dance Dance Revolution" trick) I can't get the ordering to be like what I'm mimicking in my StepMania, DDR X (Where it started with X and ended with the 1st mix). Could someone help?

The problem with that solution is that, when selecting folders, those numbers show up, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Am I doing something wrong?

No. Stepmania 3.9(+) is hard-coded to sort the folders alphabetically. Beware's EXTREME actually modified the code to sort the folders like an actual EXTREME machine does. sillybear's solution is pretty much the only way around it without extensive recoding.

this is just about exactly how i did it for my stepmania program, though i would put 1st mix first then X2 last (but thats just me).

It would be nice if the program was recoded to where you can really organize the folders, you know New License, KOs, KCs, etc.

That's how I organize my uh... mixes.

I name the folders like:

01 - Licensed Music
02 - KONAMI Original

etc.

Then I just turn off the little tab things that say the name.

I understand how to turn tabs off, but I was just trying to imitate DDR X, which uses folders. Oh well...

What tabs, and how do you turn them off?

Appearance Options -> Wheel Sections -> ABC only
