I know we have some European users on the site & wonder if anyone is watching or keeping track of Eurovision this year.
So far in the in the finals are Russia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Belgium, Greece, Albania, Portugal, Belarus, Iceland, Spain, UK, Germany, Norway, & France so far.
The 2nd semifinal perform tonight I think, bit sad that Poland song didn't get through =(

Semi final 1 overview:
Russia and Serbia are REALLY fucking lucky. Especially Russia, they were booed when they were called for the final. Albania, Bosnia-Herz, Belgium and Moldova are GREAT calls, nice one Europe. Belarus is pretty boring. Estonia got robbed, Macedonia to a lesser extent.
And I am VERY happy for Finland not getting through.
Anyway, for more detailed banter/opinion dressed as fact with me and a few friends who know quite a bit about this sort of thing: here.
Quote of the night goes to me about Greece apparently.

I don't usually watch the semi-finals, but I'll definitely be watching the final on Saturday. Can't see the UK winning this year (no surprise there, then) seeing as we're entering yet another Stock, Crosby and Waterman song, and it doesn't sound like they've changed their style since the eighties (again, no surprise). Considering that the last 'Hit Factory' entry was Scooch from a few years back, they don't exactly strike me as having winning form...
To be honest, I always find the media's reaction to Eurovision more amusing than the competition - every year, the British media wheels out the same out 'naff music' clichés and makes jokes about the competing entries, then whinging when we lose and demanding immediate withdrawal from the EU, simply because people in other countries don't like the same kind of music as us!
Oh, and I still think Finland were robbed last year. Sure, it might not have been a year for dance pop entries, but it was still a pretty good song...

The Russian one is so depressing-sounding, Bosnia and Moldova had great songs.
The British commentator that did the semifinal however, is awful!

And they don't realise that we're the only country who doesn't really take it seriously at all. See, we tried last year, and we came 5th. But the perfectionists decided 'oh no, that's not good enough, we don't want to win this year, here's a shitty stage school drop out'.THIS COUNTRY.

What about when Dima Bilan won a couple of years back? Russia won by entering a popular artist performing a track produced by Timbaland. How did we respond? "What! How could a binman who didn't win a TV talent show lose to this Russian we've never heard of with a skater on the stage? A SKATER!"

I think we were more "lol we've heard of Timbaland, they used him, he's not Russian, I CALL CHEAT."Which is blatantly Not Doing The Research. Anyway, guys who can watch it, we'd love it if you stopped by here for our live commentary, (fake) snacks, and ratings out of 10. Heck, provide your own. It'd be like our own little judging panel (aawwwwww <3)

I'm a bit nervous about how it will go for Anna Bergendahl, considering that the majority of the Swedes (around 58%) don't think that she will pass. But still I've heard that the odds for her qualifying are quite low.
That makes me wonder if our fears will come true, or we've just been having a major lack of confidence about our own entry.
Personally, I hope she will qualify, and I think she could with a little luck on her side.

Knowing how good Sweden are (Melodifestivalen is the most well known ESC selection process, after all) at it, I reckon it will qualify. Good enough to win? Personally not thinking it's gonna happen, but you never know, it could get a good placing in the final.

Why in gods name were I so naive that I'd think Sweden would advance to the finals?? WHY?!?
But I should have known this... our luck's run out.

Turkey. The first ever time I've actually voted for someone. Moldova and Romania would be good, as would be Germany.
I just don't want a fucking ballad.

I actually didn't like Germany, but I guess enough people "laved" her enough to vote.
In other news: we got results from the Semifinals, there was a tie for the last spot in the second semi between Cyprus and Ireland at 67 points, and Sweden had 62, and right behind Anna was Eastern European Funk. Il pleut de l'or got only 2 points.
In addition, Moldova saved us from having the dreadful Finnish entry in the finals too.
