What HUGE mental song blocks have you (not?) overcome recently?

I just passed Maxx Unlimited for the first time! Yessssss.

Back story:
In early 2008 I borrowed Ultramix 2 from a friend, and played Maxx Unlimited 2/5ths music speed in the practice mode, but couldn't pass it at a higher music speed than that. Ever since then, I have only been close to beating it on pad once. That was in late 2008, on a cobalt flux and no bar. I failed about ten steps from the end. :/

Just yesterday (5.1.1., the ddr holiday) I was trying to AAA 5.1.1. with no success. I decided to try Maxx Unlimited on a whim, because I was screwing around and bored out of my mind. Then I somehow passed it! What the heck!?

The thing is, about a month ago I passed Max 300 -SMMM- on challenge, then Paranoia -Respect-, and PSMO all in a row. I was pretty astounded. I had never even played the first two on pad before. I've tried PSMO twice by accident, but this was the first time I had actually passed it. That was a good day.

I push myself really hard, but have never gotten the results I expect on a song until the times I'm not really trying. It's kind of unfortunate. I mean, I still haven't passed the Legend of Max yet, but since I've passed every other hard song on Extreme, I really ought to be able to do it...

What mental blocks have you being pushing against for the past few months? Are there any songs that DRIVE YOU INSANE since you haven't passed them yet?
Also, are there any other well-experienced players besides me who still haven't passed one of the obviously easy 10s to pass, yet have passed pretty much anything else?

I can't wait to pass LoM.

I have yet to beat MaxX Unlimited on D- on an arcade machine.

Well I can't beat PRO, I die three or four steps before the end, I can't pass HDVO cause of that stupid death run... Though for some strange reasons, I made it through FAXXO without any real problem...

The hardest boss songs are stupid imo.
Pluto Relinquish , Healing D Vision , Trigger , NGO ect...

Silent : Do you play double with or without bars ?
Nobar i "passed" Max300. But with lot o miss, + 1st stage ect. I don't really count it.
With bar i tried once PSMO. I was surprised that i "passed" it. But again, with lots of miss and it was on first stage.
Both bad pass.
I hope i'll get better on double.

pnw.jule remember me the trouble i had and i still have with max300. Particulary, the part after the freeze.
I play this song a lot of time, but i have so much trouble to made the moves properly :s (even there is no double steps, no crossovers, ect). It's just my body, he doesn't want do this moves. I really lost all of my focus on this second part. Even now.
Long time ago that was lot of miss/good/great. Now it's more shitty greats and miss.

I FC this song only once at the arcade. I'm glad that it's still my best score on it (21greats).

I'm a bit scared to play the SN2 boss songs because they are so well stepped I will do that in september when one location that i go play will get SN2.

Anyway. pnw.jule i'm very suprised that you can't pass MaxX if you did SMMMO, Respect and PSMO in a row. I think i can't do that because is too much stamina draining. MaxX and Legend are cake if you did that.

i passed everything up SN1, but i haven't tried more than the boss songs on heavy for SN2 on pad and i haven't played X or X2 on pad but i'm sure those, being bat shit stupid, would give me some trouble.

a definite mental block, and i don't know why, is go 60 go expert on ITG2. i know its not DDR, but i have that left for 12s. i did bloodrush, HOTN, tell, etc., but i cant do go 60 go to save my life. i get to the step-jump-step section with mines and i brain fart. i've passed pandy and summer but not go 60 go

On a foam pad, I also can't do Go 60 Go. Once I get into the section with the mines, I can't stop hitting them... The same goes with HOTN.

On an arcade pad though, I can avoid the mines in Go 60 Go fairly decently.

Go 60 Go is extremely tiring if you actually do it right (gallops).

My biggest problem is trying to 99 Night Time Story from Rebirth. I try to doublestep what I can, but gallops + crossovers do not work well for me.

For DDR, There isn't much challenge mentally (on singles at least). I've passed everything except PHO, and I could probably get that soon.

Max 300.
Here's my recent progression on this (last five months)

December- played for the first time on X, got 10, which was an improvement over... bad.
January- forgot about it
February- forgot about it
March- forgot about it
April- played it, got 9 and decided to whore it out briefly to try and AAA it, ended up with 2g as my best (one after the stop and one random one in the end, not the triplets)
May- trying to forget about it so I can get over the terrible mental block I have on it now

Not overcame?

Pluto Relinquish, obviously.
Creating a procedurally-generative songwriting program. I have got the framework on paper for one, just not the programming.
BG art, banner art, and most of the stepcharts for Zmix Project. Or the procrastination thereof.
Playing too much, and yet oxymoronically, not nearly enough.

Intro to Hot For Teacher Expert, and that second (third?) guitar solo in Green Grass and High Tides. Or 5-starring anything on Vocals besides Free Bird, Psychobilly Freakout, and Killing In The Name.

Fascination MAXX Single

The first hardest part = cluster of 8th notes before slowdown 100 BPM part. Makes low HP quickly.

The second hardest part = cluster of 32th notes before gallops section on 200 BPM. High risk of Failed.

The 3rd haredest part = jumps on 400 BPM section. That so exhausting !

Usually i couldn't pass because the 3rd section.

But sometimes even worst Failed at the 2nd section.

I thought that On The Break would be a lot harder than it actually was. When I found the rhythm of the notes, it became SO much easier. Same thing with On The Bounce.

Passed them both on 1x Vivid.

I was afraid to try Pluto D- until two weeks ago...and surprised myself with a low A. It's actually not too hard for a 15 new scale. Trip Machine PhoeniX D- and Arrabbiata D- are killing me right now, to say nothing of the MAX D- series.

A lot of other songs got beat quite easily when I realized how close to the end I actually was, and that I only had to push my legs for 5 or 10 seconds more for great justice. Arrabbiata S-, Trim S-, Felm S- - I spent a lot of time ALMOST beating all of these until I actually kicked them. Pluto Relinquish S- is a different story. PR and FaxX S- are my current wall in DDR.

PIU is a shorter story, but Will-o'-the-wisp FS was the first "scary" chart I managed to pass. Totally worth it, too.

Telperion : I'm afraid about almost every song in double. My level on double is low 9 but some 7 or 8 can kick me in the... >.>

I had a huge problem (and still have i guess) on Ordinady World S-. Weird rythm, spins, ect...
Played it 7 times saturday at the arcade. At the end of my 5th try, i figured out something why the rythm.
From 1st to 5th tries, i got 16-20 greats (except for the 4th. I screwed up the beginning so i was lazy and i bracketed the song). On 6th try i got 5greats FC.
Played it a 7th time for fun (that was the extra stage).

I have also what i call a "4 Times" pictures. Picture of the result screen where i only played the same song lol.

I feel pretty safe in saying that MAX 300 is considered the quintessential 10-footer (15 by new standards), yet I can count on one hand the number of times I've passed it (I think two.)

I've passed MaxX Unlimited about four times (considered a little harder than MAX 300 by most). I have yet to pass Legend of Max, I haven't passed PSMO, the original Paranoia Survivor wears me out (though I almost always pass...)

Yet I routinely pass all three versions of Roppongi Evolved, Pluto , On the Bounce , and Xepher , which are supposedly as hard as or harder than the aforementioned boss songs. Oh, and for the record, I don't use speed mods (never have.)
