The entire site will be shut down tomorrow from 9pm British Summer Time for about a week to transfer all the site data to a new host.
Hopefully solving all the database issues once and for all.

Is this a ZIV blackout or will there be a backup (at least for non-official threads, sims, etc.)?

I don't know what you mean by that.
All* user data and site data will be transferred.
*Simfiles are the main concern as the site with simfiles make it too large to transfer. The site is 125gb.

Yes that would be correct, as I don't want a situation where I'll lose some user data cos I keep two ZIvs up at the same time.
The plan is:
Zenius Server 1 offline
Move data
Move database
Zenius Server 2 online
It's so it doesn't get out of sync or people will complain about recent posts being missing.

If you have yet to think of an alternative, you can redirect people to the facebook page for updates while the site is being moved to another server.

That works too. Giving alternative options for the guests is the main concern as they'll go ape-shit crazy when they see that the site is down

Although i would normally *face palm* this, no boomba, this isn't a change to v6, al's just getting the entire site moved to another server, so yes it will still be v5.2

I do think a tinychat is in order, so we all don't completely go into Z-I-v withdrawal for a week. This is gonna suck :<
