Im stumped

Ok, i downloaded the simfile RAR for Fascination MAXX and used the Windows RAR program (see above forum) and all i got from it was the banner, background, music, and DWI file. Help?

That's what you're supposed to get.

This is all assuming you have Stepmania.

1.Go to your program files (or wherever SM got installed)

2.Go into the Stepmania folder and go into the songs folder.

3.Create a new folder there.

4.Create a new folder in the folder you created and put the DWI/music etc. in there.

5.Start up SM and play.

Yes, i know this. But when i downloaded it, it had no steps for it. Just the song, background, banner, and DWI file.

The DWI file is the steps. I'm not quite understanding your problem. Are you saying that when you play Faxx in your simulator it doesn't work?

Yes, that is it. no steps come up. it doesn't even show it as a song to make steps for.

Now im even more confused. My DWI file is playign under Windows Media Player. What should it be running under?

Well, I'd make sure that it's been properly installed in the correct place. Your DWI file is running under WMP? It shouldn't be running under anything unless you need to edit it. In that case you need to open it with note/wordpad

It still isin't working. I have a windows XP Home Edition and it has: Fascination MAXX DWI file with the doccument and then the notepad in the center.

Are you using Stepmania? It kind of sounds like you're trying to play it straight from the folder.

I have tried but it isin't even coming up as a song.

try downloading other simfiles from here and see if they work. If they don't than you're probably doing something wrong.

Also, do you have any other songs that you can play in SM, or is this the first you've tried?

Ok, now it is coming up in "My Creations" in teh make my steps, but there are no steps for it.

Try redownloading the DWI file and replacing it with the old one.

I checked the folder and it came up as the Notepad inside of a doccument. Is that how it is suppossed to show up in the Song Folder?

You mean it shows up as a notepad file? Mine do since i've made all .dwi files show up that way. If you opened it with notepad before it probably automatically made it the default program for it.

Ok, I downloaded it again yet it was teh same thing. Also, I checked my other folders and they had OLD files. They alos had SM fiels with a little bit of data on them. My SM file has no data on it.

Try deleting the .old files and the .SM file. Also, make sure after you do this you reload your songs/courses or restart SM.

Ok, it still isin't working. I am so confused right now. I got teh RAR file, exptracted it, Went to the smpackage, crate song, made it a folder, and it still does not want to work.

I'm not sure why you're using SMpackage but your directory should look something like this:

Your file path should look something like that.

Could i use any program that runs music to play my music on stepmania?

Stepmania should play your music for you. Is the simfile actually showing up when you load the Stepmania program?
