Hi !
I'm french guy, excuse me if my English is bad and if this topic has already been posted Blushing

Have a question for you about DDR EXTREME machines japanese.

I have access to 2 machines every day in an arcade.
The memory card slots are open, so I wanted to test an official PS1 memory card.
The memory card is recognized by the machine (INSERTED/READY).
A paint of the memory card appears on top.
After the "select your stage (single / versus / double), a screen appears very quickly to the memory card.
When I finished my 3 songs (or 4 with the ES), there is a screen writing in Japanese writing in red and white (if you want a screen, I do this tomorrow) which lasts 20secs and I have to wait because all buttons has no effect.
Then it starts at the beginning.

When I get home I put the memory card in playstation and it says "no data" Sad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzTSlm3ITgk
Here is a video player, you can see the score on the right of the names of songs.
When i restart a new game with MC, i don't have this score on the right Cry
And then in the video after selecting single play, there is a message to the memory card during 20secs but I did not: (

Others informations :
-> I have already read this link, do not bother to give it to me ^ ^ (http://www.ddrfreak.com/library/contributor-article.php?postID=7429111)
-> I can access the menu to change options

Have you solution ?

"Let's get this movin'"
For storing Profile data for DDR MAX and Higher, you need DDR 5th Mix for PS1 (Japanese)
Enter "ARCADE LINK" and use "NEW VERSION LINK".
Follow instructions inside.
Note: Beginner and Challenge stepcharts can't be stored (if the song has BA, DI and EX).
2 Blocks of your card is needed to arcade link. 1 additional block per edit.

Ok, that screen just says:
"リンクを終了しました

メモリーカードを引き抜いでください"

i.e "Link has finished. Please pull out the memory card" - the game also announces "Now pull out the memory card" in English in your video. When this screen shows, you can safely remove the card and the game will return to the title screen.

Anyway, I've just re-read your post.

What are you trying to do with the memory card (and what are you trying to open it with)? As has been mentioned, you initialise the memory card for DDR EXTREME with 5thMIX CS, and then that's it - it just saves your scores for the arcade version.

If you are intending to put edit data on the card, you don't need LINK DATA - this is only for saving scores.

Memory cards aren't region-locked - you can use a European one just fine. It needs to be a PS1 card though (preferably an official Sony one, but others may work).

My goal is to record my scores when I play on the machine to keep them and show them to others. Later, I could make edits (but not urgent)

I just test what you just said (to initialize the memory card) with DDR 5th Mix a friend lent me.
Now I can see this in the memory card:

This box will save my scores when I play tomorrow?

Yes, it's created the "new version" link data - that should now work Big Grin

It would also work with Max or Max 2 (but it'd have to be on another memory card, since using it on EXTREME makes it incompatible with them)

"For Aiur~!"
Wow...
It's quite rare to see a DDR Extreme machine with Memory Card enabled here.
Yet another good news. ^^

"Let's get this movin'"
You can check your records in DDR 5th Mix Ps1 using Arcade Link:
Enter Arcade Link > Load Data
Here, you can access the records.
--
Note: Is recommended use a memory card for the arcade link for 1 +MAX game. (1 for Extreme, 1 for MAX2 and 1 for MAX)
--
Here, there's a lot of Extreme AC, but only a small number (10-15) has PS1 memory card slots and a small number of them (about 5-8) has Arcade Link enabled.

and of course, The scores will be saved in those 2 card blocks. The scores can be overwritten if a new record is set.
Also, the latest 10 course scores can be saved too.
-
Tip: When you're tired of playing and wants to format your card, backup the data into another card (or a PS2 card, like me).
-
Tip2: If the song you edit needs freezes, you need a PS2 DDR game and some edits. Export the edits and copy into your Ps1 card.

one thing i didnt see mentioned is that you can only store like 150 scores or something like that, much less than the song count of extreme AC. after you max it out, it will stop saving scores for songs you dont have a score on, but if you already have a score you can set a new score and have that save.

and yeah, if you want edits to have freezes just make them in a PS2 game, export from the library to the card using the PS2 game's edit mode, and copy them from the PS2 card to PSX card using the PS2's built in interface for that. its quite simple once you figure it out.

your memory card is region free, all of them are, but the edits arent. you need to create the edits using a japanese version, just in case you didnt already know that.

Oh yeah n00b i forgot how many songs you could save onto a memory card for Extreme. You could use 2 memory cards, one for say A-M songs and another for N-Z, or for instance one for easy shit and another for 8+ footers.

This limit of 150 scores sucks a bit. But i guess it's due to the hardware.
Btw, if you have like 120 score saved in the memory card. This will take a lot of time to load in the machine isn't it ?

I made a shitty edit for absolute (done in 20min). Was only for stamina/stream trainning.
The "chart" barely breaks 900arrows xD

I have to look at the PS2 edit -> PS1 memory card tips that you said guys when i will have my PS2 back ^^

I'm surprised that there is so few Extreme with memory card slot. The funny fat is, there is 2 Extreme on the same place.
Both have memory card slots, both works.

I would prefer that the owner of the arcade sold one Extreme and buy a ITG2 or SN2 :p
But this won't happend i'm sure Sad

Dam Dariram Challenge -> Is that a glitch ? O_o Like the Love Shine glitch on nonstop ? (that i never tried ^^')

No lol, no jumps at all. Was ONLY stream.
The song i used was absolute. I was looking for 140th bpm stuff on 5th Mix CS jap that Usiganou had (and lol, we had to unlock songs in a hurry before go to the arcade xD).
I used only 16th notes with NO crossovers or doublesteps or shits, from the begining to the begining of the slowdown (mesure 60, kinda the end of the song). Anyway, stream :p

I need that kind of training, i have no stamina at all. Maybe i will do more chart like this. One slower (125bpm ?), one faster (150-160bpm?). And an other for short stream but faster (180-200bpm?).
I know speed and stamina are my weakess point. So if i could work on that Big Grin

Suppose you could just put the glitch chart on a memory card to make it easier. Otherwise it can't be "unlocked", you have to go through a (lengthy) process to get it on a certain row in Nonstop to trick the machine into putting in into Challenge when it normally wouldn't.
