Let the great debate begin...

Here's my sayso on Beatmania IIDX vs. DJ Hero with pro and cons from the two.

Beatmania IIDX

Pros: Has been around a LOT longer than DJ Hero and this game (IMO) really sets the standard for VERY hard DJ similations games.
Very rewarding experience when you finally clear a very difficult song (Steel Needle Hyper I'm looking at you)
Very high replay value even when you finally clear a hard song.

Cons:
IIDX is not very beginner friendly (minus beginner mode and light 7 modes).
Newer versions of IIDX have considerably harder difficulties as comparing to older styles (Pre-11th Style).
To really get the full experience of IIDX a good control is essential (though the US and Japanese KOF are not bad).

Now:

DJ Hero:

Pros:
Brand new DJ game. Has a turntable with 3 buttons on it. Has a Euphoria button, crossfader switch, and another button I can't think of right now.
Has some songs by well known music artists. Examples are: Gwen Stephani, Eminen, Kool Moe Dee, and MANY more.
Much easier than IIDX, but still considerably harder than Guitar Hero.
MUCH better DJ game than Beatmania USA.
The effects buttons can create some very interesting effects, such as horns, bullets shots and so on.

Cons:
This game with the turntable will set you back at least about 100 to 150 bucks.
The crossfade button (at least the demo version at the local best buy store) doesn't quite feel right, and I end up sliding in the wrong place due to a lack of "feel"

Here are my pros and cons of both games. In conclusion, DJ Hero is MUCH better than beatmania USA and with the names of well known music artists, I wouldn't be surprised if this game actually becomes a hit, especially people who love dance music. I still prefer Beatmania IIDX over DJ Hero because IIDX is a commitment which rewards you with practice (and LOTS of it). Also too, since Beatmania IIDX has been around for many years, I feel like Beatmania is a game you will still be playing for years, even after a break. DJ Hero is still pretty fun for what I've played and it is a nice change of pace if you want to try another DJ simulation game.

PS: if anyone says that Beatmania IIDX is a DJ Hero ripoff, then you are a complete idiot. 'Nuff said...

If IIDX is a drug, then I'm addicted.."

Honestly, they are 2 very different games.

But I won't be playing DJ Hero until they improve the controller and have mashups that don't clash like mis matched clothing.

As what Ashura said, there's no point comparing IIDX to DJ Hero; completely different games for different audiences.

And is not $100+ a bundle.

Well i picked it up today. The controller seems to have improved in my opinion since i played the demo at best buy. The mashups actually are a lot better live at a higher volume. I know i had my doubts but the full versions are kinda nice. It's a different feel when your actually the one playing, instead of watching a video on you tube

It has it's flaws but I agree should not be compared to IIDX at all

There's nothing wrong with buying both games. Both IIDX and DJ Hero are pretty fun, but for the average Guitar Hero player who has never played IIDX, they would think that IIDX is a DJ Hero ripoff.

BTW, I was thinking: which would sell more..a game that has well known recording artist like Eminen or a game in which most American video game players never heard of (Sota Fujimoto of IIDX). BTW, to play Japanese IIDX games, you either need a modded PS2 or a Japanese PS2 (or PS3?), while DJ Hero can be played on either an American PS3 or XBox 360. Hmm...

This would be so true. I mean they called Beatmania US a rip off of Guitar Hero when it isn't even the sameLaughing Hard This is why I believe IIDX is no longer welcome outside Japan because too many will jump to that conclusionConfused Even if they brought it again to North America and/or Europe they'd probably manage to screw it up anyways, so I guess IIDX is best left in Japan

Can you really blame most Americans for not knowing about a game that was hardly ever released in the US?

They're completely different games. DJ Hero is a turntablist game, while beatmania is real-time beatmaking.
