I want to play Stepmania using a dance pad, but I already have Hottest Party 2 and I don't want to spend $100+ for another dance pad.
Could someone tell me if using a HP2 dance pad with a Gamecube-USB adapter will work with Stepmania? Thanks.

Why don't you try
I know of such devices that connect to the computer via USB.
Connect what USB adapter you have and connect the pad to it and try it out. It'll be optional.
How?
Go to the key/config in your Stepmania and:
Press the Enter or whatever then
Get up with the GCN up
Get down with the GCN down
Get left with the GCN left
Get right with the GCN right
And you'll be all set.
I don't have a HP2 or whatever so I don't know if it will work

Thanks for the key config thing.
I'm mainly asking since some adapters have caused problems like Left+Right and Up+Down at the same time won't register, and stuff like that, and if it doesn't work then I would have just wasted ~$30.

It would have been better if you:
-Bought a PS2 mat or so for 10-20 bucks (as starter)
-Bought a USB PS controller adapter for around 15 dollars.
Worked for me when I started.
But I don't play as much now.
You'll understand later.
