pop'n music Portable has been announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that was just released.

oh, so it's for the psp. I thought it was for cellphones.
I'll be picking it up if it ever comes over to the US.
And I'm calling that it'll only be 5-key with a terrible online scoreboard, worse than the beat n groovy scoreboard (if it had one)

Turns out this game is in fact based on pop'n music 15 ADVENTURE and will feature over 80 songs.

eh?, how many buttons has a PSP?, because the PS2 controller can handle precisely the same amount of buttons of pop'n music, what are they gonna do for PSP? 7 buttons?

well, you have the two shoulder buttons and the four buttons on the right so that makes 7-key playable and if you add the directional buttons, you have 11 buttons to pick from to play 9-key

Issue is, you can only hit 2 keys on the d-pad at any one time instead of all 4 which some pop'n charts need.

In 9-key mode, the left two buttons can be assigned to the left and up arrow or the up and right arrow. I highly doubt Konami will be stupid enough to map the default setting to up and down.

well, that means that they'll use three of the directional buttons. That's going to be pretty bad for gameplay as it's very uncomfortable to hit two directional buttons at the same time.
