In other news, Pokemon GO is currently planned to be a Generation 1 exclusive game. Pokemon get 2 moves each, there is no defensive moves. Mega Evolution is replaced by an ability called Burst... everything is falling into place regarding that term.
Wait, scratch that... it's Pokemon Ingress. You play on one of three global teams, and try to maintain control of your local Gyms. Pick the same team as your friends for added player synergy. Not bad, Game Freak.
Also, this Monday there will be a reveal of Pokemon Sun and Moon gameplay. Let's hope they didn't mess this one up.

If this is true then this region will have the smallest Pokedex. Smaller than Kalos.

The beta released in Japan was data-mined to see what information is on there. While it shows the sprites for Gen 1 pokemon, it does not mean that Pokémon GO will only be a Gen 1 game. There is also information for the Dark, Steel, and Fairy type pokémon in the beta, with no Gen 1 pokemon being a Dark type.* While the actual game may start with Gen 1 pokémon, it will eventually have updates to include later generations.

Masuda was being sarcastic about his response. Technically, there will be over ten new pokemon, so he's right. But he's not going to give an upper limit. Three starter pokemon with their evolutions bring you to nine new pokemon. Then you count your Caterpie clone and your Pidgey clone and you're well over ten pokemon :V

A mythical Pokemon revealed before the generation begins. It clearly has some relationship to Diancie though so I can't be sure.
