I know there are some Taiwan players on the boards.

Please talk about DDR or other music games in Taiwan here.

I live in Taipei and play in Ximen Ding at Tom's world. (expensive but closer to me)

Sometimes I go to Sinchu to play DDR at Tom's world. (Cheap but far away from me)

Both are good.

Where do you play?

Hi Taiwanese players!
I'm going to Taipei tomorrow and chances are I might be playing at the Tom's World at Ximending (might be the same one where the KAC was held?) since it's quite near the hotel I'm staying in. I have a few (probably noobish) questions.

1. Is it usually crowded at that Tom's World?
2. Are there players usually playing the IIDX and DrumMania machines? Like, how's the line to play in those machines?
3. Speaking of line, how's the "I'll play the next credit" culture in there? Is it anything like the US (put a token at the bottom corner of the screen) or simply swipe card/insert credit in the machine to call dibs?
4. It's still GFDM XG3 and DDR X3 VS 2ndMIX in there right? No GITADORA/DDR 2013 yet? Well the database's last update was January so I'm asking to be sure. Tongue

1. Yes usually crowded on weekends especially at night.
2. IIDX is a little more popular than DM but both might need to wait 1 or two credits
3. Most bemani games there have a notebook you sign your name in. After you play, cross out your name and sign again.
4. DDR is 2013. I am not sure about DM or GF. Other arcades have gitadora for sure.

Thanks Dr.D!

I might be going there tomorrow afternoon so it's definitely not so crowded compared to weekends?
That notebook signing system sounds more organized compared to what I have to deal with in the Philippines though. Tongue

I will be holding my 3rd annual DDR Challenger Competition next Saturday (8/17).

The even will consist of a Single and Double division as well as being double elimination.

More information can be found here.
https://www.facebook.com/DDRChallengerTaiwan

Basic format is as follows.
Songs will be chosen using a card draw system. Choose 5, discard 2.
Each round the difficulty of the draw increases.
2/3 song wins the match using DP scoring
Finals will be best out of 5
The winners of the single and double division will be challenged by me to an exhibition match. (same rules as finals)

I know just about everyone reading this wont be entering, but I would like to invite you to watch the tournament live that day.
I will post a link to the Live Stream the day of the tournament. Stream should be live around 12:00 GMT +8.

Bump,
Just a heads up in case you forgot when it's happening. Should be live in less than 12 hours.

Live now with audio and video out

Not Set
Reg. 2016-11-16

Moving to Taiwan in May for a couple of years, going to be studying at Mandarin Training Center while my gf works there. So I'll be in Taipei, good to know game centers are near Japanese quality.

I play DDR mostly, can do some Level 15s and possibly a less stamina intense 16 (Poochie?) if I ever tried one. Don't have any PFCs but quite a handful of SDGs. However I'm getting ready to get a new card so I can use Paseli and play the Leggendaria songs in IIDX - I didn't set my location as Japan when I registered.

The keysounded games, not so much anymore these. I played too much LR2 with low audio latency that the comparatively high sound lag in IIDX & Pop'n (though I'm pretty sure it's much less in pop'n) really, really throws me off unless the arcade is so loud that I can't hear the machine at all. DDR is more comfortable, you're actually with the music, not so early.

But anyway, could you guys tell me possibly where in Taipei I could find a pop'n eclale machine that you know for a fact people play 45+ on? I can't deal with some doo doo microswitches. Don't have eclale in the states and would love to try it out. Never played with the new post-SP speed mods.
