Has anyone encountered this?
I re-rated CHAOS to the X scale, and sometimes it works, but most of the time when I load up StepMania it gives me ratings of 5/7/9/10/10. These aren't the original ratings, aren't the new ones, I have no idea where it's getting this from. I've cleared the entire cache, reloaded all songs, and still get the screwed ratings.
Any ideas? It's only CHAOS that does this too (though I've yet to re-rate everything). I've removed the song, put it to a different folder, tried to make it as new as possible, but it still cooks up these strange values.
Using SM3.9+, by the way.

I had this same problem before, under SM3.9+ redux. Look here...I re-rated CHAOS to the X scale, and sometimes it works, but most of the time when I load up StepMania it gives me ratings of 5/7/9/10/10. These aren't the original ratings, aren't the new ones, I have no idea where it's getting this from. I've cleared the entire cache, reloaded all songs, and still get the screwed ratings.

I never altered the simfile in any way. It also affected other songs as well (Pluto comes to mind). Clearing the cache seemed to work, albeit temporarily.

doesn't really help, it'll still be the same when the theme is switched.Post #4 · Posted at 2009-03-15 10:59:10pm 15 years ago

Thanks for the responses, it looks like there's no real permanent solution, I guess. Ah well, if I figure anything out I'll share it.

I actually PM'd Alan back in September about that.

alex!
i am wondering who is going to be in charge of the rewriting of the new foot ratings (1st thru SN2) for this site and the ddr/sm community at large. if you know i would be interested in that.

It's Alan lol, if you go to the new version of the site and view X there, the new ratings have been done.

I am actually talking about going into the song files and manually redoing the ratings. (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, CAN'T FIND THAT PM:doh
Quote: Al2K4
Oh that, erm ... I'm not sure if it's worth the effort as StepMania does not show the ratings correctly if they go up to 20.
Yes, I really called Alan ALEX cause I had just talked to my friend Alex on the phone. Oops.

If you want to wait until the second week in April (or so), I'll be doing it. Have to wait until school is over and I have the time to do it, but I'm in the process of re-rating all SuperNOVA and SuperNOVA2 songs. Sorry, I won't be doing EXTREME and prior, but at least I can provide those.

I have converted almost all of the musics of DDR including CHAOS and it worked for me. Maybe you should try to reload the songs and the cache. Did you tried the Edit Mode to change the step charts of CHAOS?

Problem solved. Add the following to the .sm
#NEWMETERSYSTEM:NO;
If this parameter is set to YES, it will auto-scale the 1-20 rating scale down to 1-10, resulting in the numbers for CHAOS seen above. Setting the parameter to NO just displays the numbers in the .sm file.

Has someone been re-rating the old songs who would be willing to upload them with X scale ratings? I wanted to know before wasting my time on all of them.I try my best to rerating some old DDR songs that not appear on DDR X.
This is some example : (From my calculation)
- Justify My Love
Single : 3 , 7 , 12
Double : 4 , 6 , 10
- Speed Over Beethoven
Single : 4 , 5 , 8 , 12
Double : 4 , 7 , 13
- So Deep (Perfect Sphere Remix)
Single : 2 , 4 , 7 , 14
Double : 3 , 8 , 13
- WWW.BlondeGirl (MOMO Mix)
Single : 2 , 2 , 5 9
Double : 3 , 5 , 9
- Twilight Zone (RC Extended Club Mix)
Single : 2 , 4 , 7 , 12
Double : 4 , 7 , 11

Sounds just about right. Speed Over Beethoven Double to me is a 12 though.

I would say 11 for JML D- and 13 for TZ S-.
As far as I understand:
4-2
5-3
6-4
7-5
8-6
9-7
10-7
11-8
12-8
13-9
14-9
15-ITG 10
16-ITG 10/11
17-ITG 11
18-ITG 12
19-ITG 12/13
20-ITG 13
I'm not sure about the last few since we've only seen up to 18, and I didn't bother with Beginner because such a gamut of difficulties on charts that really were all 1s to begin with is pure nonsense.
You might be right though:
2-1
3-2
4-3
5-4
6-5
7-5/6
8-6
14 is hard 9s like So Deep, but 12 is a grey area. Angelus, Blind Justice, and SUNKiSS DROP are clearly 8s, but you also have A, Afronova Primeval, and On the Break D-. If I had to choose an equivalent on the old scale, though, it would be an 8.

6-4
7-5

9-7
10-7
11-8
12-8
13-9
14-9
15-ITG 10
16-ITG 10/11
17-ITG 11
18-ITG 12
19-ITG 12/13
20-ITG 13
