Heck, this forum is doing better than at least two forums that started up in the past few years

Yeah, I was quite surprised to find that this forum was still getting several daily posts here, as I had assumed pretty much all forums online were dead by this point. Discord certainly isn't a bad platform by any means, but I like seeing that independent forums like this one are still alive as well.

I've been replaying Extreme JP on the PS2 since I got new memory cards and I can't unlock Max Period no matter how hard I try. I can't for the life of me remember how I unlocked it 10 years ago when I was 17, but I just can't do it anymore. Maybe it's my age catching up to me. I can't read the fast part at all anymore. I also started to use slower speed mods for songs I used to play on x3 and can't play on Reverse as well as I used to. It took a good while to unlock The Legend of Max, so this seems like a battle I just can't win.
I'll probably have to resort to using the system memory support method since I have a copy of Party Collection, but I'll wait until I've unlocked everything else before I do so.
I have only started to get back into playing console games back in June, so I hope it's me being rusty and not my age. If it is, it makes me sad that my abilities are waning due to forces outside my control.
Yeah, I found myself struggling to unlock Max Period via the Extra Stage method as well. I can AAA (not PFC) it just fine on an A20 cab, but even with a PS2 controller I cannot read the ending that scrolls downward at 900 BPM. I eventually unlocked it through playing enough songs, which was pretty demoralizing.I'll probably have to resort to using the system memory support method since I have a copy of Party Collection, but I'll wait until I've unlocked everything else before I do so.

Yeah I play on the PS2 controller as well. Not as good on the pad as I am on the regular controller. Even with that in mind, 900 BPM on Reverse is insane. I had no idea you could just unlock it through normal gameplay. Thought you needed to unlock it through Extra Stage only.

I FOUND AN ARCADE NEAR ME THAT HAS A BUNCH OF RAHYTHM GAMES!!!!!!!!! I'm not sharing it because I don't want my location revealed but it has Sound Voltex, WACCA, maimai, Chunithm, DDR, PIU, Dancerush, jubeat (probably), and get this: GROOVE COASTER! They might have more that I don't know

Been diagnosed with costochondritis maybe because of me overplaying DDR and me aging (I'm in my 30s). Just when I'm about to do good at certain expert charts, though at least I've accomplished things like doing a full combo with Dead End. I don't know when this will be gone and if it'll come back again some time, but my body will definitely crave for DDR other than having these chest pains.

The feeling when you get Costochondritis is real until it turns into a phobia.

ZIv is a pretty decently semi-active forum yeah, I think other forums like Toonzone/Anime Superhero/whatever it's called now are a bit more barren, idk how NeoGAF is doing thoughI've been becoming more of a videophile nerd recently so I'm pretty active on the blu-ray.com forums LOL & that forum is actually incredibly active but a good part of the userbase is INCREDIBLY insufferable tbh
there's also TheFandomPost but it's only like one or two guys posting on it from the threads that I've lurked in

As if things this year and decade couldn't get any worse... 2024 has eclipsed both 2016 AND 2020 as the new worst year of all time. Full Stop. Things WILL get even worse by the conclusion of this year.

Just got back into retro gaming starting with F-Zero GX thanks to Dolphin's Summer update having RetroAchievements integrated. Still can't get over how good the game looks even 21 years later while maintaining the 60fps target.

I've been doing that too, got Dolphin set-up just for GX. Also amazing how smooth it looks in comparison to other stuff I've tried on there (my laptop's not the MOST powerful, it has pretty notable rate drops with late-stage PS2 games e.g. NFS Carbon and Outrun 2006).

GX is an absolute banger of a game, and every time I play it I get a little more sad that we've had no real new F-Zero game since. I guess since Mario Kart basically sells quad-fuck-trillions, Nintendo doesn't need a second first party racer.

F-Zero 99 was the closest we were going to get to a real F-Zero game. It did contain many players, rather than the standard players we got.Post #34319 · Posted at 2024-09-12 06:44:16pm 2.9 days ago

F-Zero 99 feels more like a proof of concept or a location test than an actual official game. Like 'here's a taste, if enough people get it we'll actually try to make something proper'.

All of the ""99" games have felt like that besides Tetris, which already has mass appeal in its simplicity.
