Nah, he raised an important question that almost nobody asked. And that's good one considering how problematic it could ended.

From my understanding, components in simfiles (music, graphic, etc.) falls into the category of "fair use". It means that you could use it for your simfile without the permission of the original copyright holder as long it's not being commercialized. And from the POV of the content, simfiles actually felt more like a transformed music because there's stepchart and graphics used, giving the music a new meaning of use.

Despite that, the copyright holder of the music/video used in a simfile could ask the simfile creator to take down their simfiles and they should comply when asked. I think some people had their simfile taken down from this kind of stuff.

I can imagine it working in a simple way of playing a set amount of songs/charts that get progressively harder and at the end of each one, the bottom __% amount of players get eliminated.

This makes it less like a "battle royale" and more like a deathrace in which the weakest die off first. Maybe we could combine that concept with the Guitar Duels that Guitar Hero had and then there would be an aggressive edge to the game.

Maybe we shouldn't put too much thought into this really outlandish idea.

Eh, I don't know. It's not the most common way to do a battle royale (individual eliminations) but Fall Guys does that. I remember the Guitar Battles in GH3 being completely broken compared to the much better Pro Face-Off mode, though. Basically on any song with real challenge it all came down to who got the Whammy power-up first.

I don't see what is the purpose of posts such as this. I don't think it's hard to see why he'd think DDR2013, 2014, A, and A20 are all inferior anyways...
