Why does boiling water make pasta soft, but eggs hard?

Deliciously interesting.

Had significant pain in my left shoulder cause by unknown factors and reported to work with a sling. Conversation with one of the head chefs went like this
Head chef: What happened?
Me: My left shoulder really hurts
Head chef: What if you need to?
Me: Need to what?
Head chef: If you need to?
Sous chef, who happens to be the only female in the room: Obviously he has his right hand.
Me: Yeah, my right hand

And then there's this...
One of my co-workers got into an accident with the band saw, somewhat amputating her right ring finger. It was sewn back but can't work for months until then. She dropped by for a visit with the boss
Boss: What if you bathe? Your wound can't get wet.
Her: I have my right hand covered with plastic.
Boss: But what about when you wash your cunt?
Her: I use a bidet.
Me: (thinking while facepalming) (She uses her left hand.)

If you have spare time, call your parents & relatives. Especially if the person you call happens to live alone. Even if it's just small talk, trust me: they appreciate it -- I have experienced this from both sides.
