Absolutely not, I fully know it's real. I'm a victim of evacuation because of one of the files in the west, and two nights before I left, I saw glowing smoke above one of the hills I can see from my driveway. There's a reason I quoted it 6 times. However, if the way my posts were worded suggests otherwise, then I'm sorry. Perhaps I should've added quotation marks.

You gotta admit it's a solid point, though. That's exactly what these "climate change isn't real" people sound like.

Got a chance to play DDR and I'll upload my scores later

Still want a chance to meet up with you guys. I cleared all 4 1st mix songs (though I did fail Paranoia on Basic, but i'm going to count it any way since I rarely have a chance to play on an actual arcade machine). So hopefully I'll get 2 2nd mix songs in tomorrow before the con is over. Btw who is that guy with the DDR shirt?

Also tried Pop n' Music and that was an interesting challenge and did pretty good with Taiko Drum.

So, it's been a bit. I figured I'd update this a bit since I've learned a bunch of new things about the whole scenario.

My best friend, Mari, isn't dating this guy I brought up, Richard. Apparently they both love each other, but they didn't immediately start dating yet because Richard already had a girlfriend of his own that he would have to break up with first.
Mari has also told me that she doesn't really like this guy anymore. It turns out that Richard only had the hots for her based on hormones and had feelings for her before they even properly met. She also says that he only acts nice when she's around; Her friends say that he's just trying to impress her. Apparently he's been ignoring her at school to spend more time with his other friends, too.
Another one of Mari's friends (don't know his name), also convinced her that they shouldn't date. He thinks that it isn't smart to date somebody she's only known for a few weeks, let alone somebody who was already in a relationship. Mike also says that this guy has apparently dated a lot of people in the past year and none of them have worked out in the end, so now Mari doesn't even want to try because it's clear that he's desperate for a girlfriend.

It honestly sucks. I know I said I was jealous at first, but I feel bad that Mari met somebody who seemed so nice at first, but turned out to be a bit of a stinker. I'm at least glad that they didn't start dating, though, because I know she would've felt even worse if they dated for a while and then had a real break-up.
I'm just really angry that Richard seemed to be so friendly at first, but then turned out to be a poser. People who lie and make masks to win the affections of others disgust me.

It's just been a sorta sucky time for love. You think somebody's going to leave you, and it makes you feel bad. Then they come back in tears and it just makes you feel guiltier. You want them to be happy, but it's clear that they're not. It just really hurts.

Love sucks.

Sorry if this whole story is kinda confusing and hard to follow. I've only been told the story in bits and pieces from what Mari and her friend have told me. Trying to figure out all of the loose ends wasn't easy.

Probably not. Like, she's my best friend by miles, but even though I love her a lot, I know a relationship between us wouldn't work.

My parents also don't really approve of me dating before college. They've never said I can't, but they've told me that they don't recommend it. Mom says that high school relationships usually don't last. I also leave for College next year, but she still has a tiny bit longer, so it'd become a really weird long-distance kind of thing.
And in all honesty, she doesn't really need somebody like me. Heck, I don't even think she has real feelings for me, either. The closest thing that ever happened between us that could even be considered semi-romantic was when we sent each other friendly Valentines. And if she really was so ready to date a guy she barely new but not the guy she already knew for so long, then that's what really makes me believe that she doesn't have feelings for me.

Besides, I think I'm better off being her best friend than her love interest. There's some kind of friendly dynamic I notice between us that just seems to work better this way.

You have to take into account that women do tend to be kind of confusing to us men. Shit that might make perfect sense in their head seems backwards to us. Her behavior sounds pretty typical, but I wouldn't take it too personally since late adolescence is a confusing time for everyone. There's nothing saying she won't eventually come around and realize what's she missing out on. Don't lose hope.

New info: Turns out Mari still likes Richard a lot, but is bitter at him for not really caring, and she's all confused about it.

She also found at that half of the reason that Richard's been avoiding her is NOT because he's a jerk: The truth is that his best friend, Alicia, is also in love with Mari. I don't exactly what's happened, but apparently Alicia told Rich that she doesn't want him hanging around Mari because she's jealous, and Rich acted like a total wimp and listened to her. Mari's gotten really upset over this. She says if he really loved her, he wouldn't listen to his abusive friend. It's making her feel guilty that Rich is being treated bad AND it's making her feel like Rich cares more about Alicia's feelings than her own.

So, there are now three people who like Mari: myself (best friend), Richard (the guy she's in love with), and Alicia (Rich's best friend). It's all really confusing me.

I can't even tell anymore if Mari liked me at all. It seemed like she did when we first met 2 years ago, but whenever she talks about Richard with me, she stops acting like my best friend and acts more like every other person I know: A stranger.
There could always be that dumb chance that she deep down liked me but went after Rich instead because he already visibly showed signs of attraction, but I doubt it. She confessed to Rich after just 2 weeks, for pete's sake. If she had a crush on me, I'm sure she would've admitted those feelings at least once before.

I don't even know how to feel about this whole debacle anymore. It just doesn't make any sense.
