"Killing multi-colored snails!" |
What's the most embarassing Fail you've ever had? I've wondered about all the people with AA's on hard songs, and AAA's to some songs credited to their names. You can't win every time, right?
Once, as I was playing No. 13, I was talking to some girls (which takes extra focus so I was struggling as I talked) and I said a line which made them laugh (in a positive way). Well, right after that I focused on playing, or so I thought, because I zoned out and my steps started lagging. By the time I realized it, I was almost an 8th off. I panicked and snapped back into time, but tripped on a fastener and slipped, knocking my drink onto the pad. The girls started roaring and walked off, and the arcade manager got so mad at me.
How about you guys?

I remember one time I played Quickening (Challenge) on a SuperNOVA2 machine, and for some reason on the first 16th run bit, I screwed up my footing and I failed. I seriously stood there, and I was like, "What the hell just happened?" Thankfully, no one else was waiting to play, so I put in more quarters, tried it again, and actually did it correctly.

First time I went to the arcade. There was a kid doing 8s and 9s on the ITG machine, and I went to play after him. I failed Da Roots Expert (which I had FC'ed at home) as my first song, because I had my hiking boots on, and had never played in them before.

321 STARS. Screwed up the footing so badly and I failed and I was like "What the shit?"
Meh, it's a good thing that no one was around me. That would be embarassing.

"Nature: Naughty" |
I've got one.
It was a few years back, and I was playing on an EX machine. I had already played a couple energy-drainers for the first few songs and wanted to play LoM last, despite clearly being exhausted. I did well enough until after the slowdown. Then I started feeling a little dizzy, but I kept on trucking through it. Around the end of the three-arrow bursts, everything started to look like a photo-negative, black turning white, blue turning yellow, etc.
(For this part, I have to go by what my friends told me.)
I started to stumble until I flipped backwards over the bar and hit the floor face-first. My friends told me my head was just inches away from tagging the corner of the pad. They could tell I was still breathing, so they didn't get help, but I was out for a couple minutes.
(By this point, I'd regained consciousness.)
I woke up to find one of my friends holding my foot and trying to pull me around the floor by my leg as though that were supposed to help, and my other friends were trying to get him to stop. When they noticed I was awake, they started bombarding me with all the obligatory questions.
"Are you all right? Do you need us to get help?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Can you stand up?"
"Probably."
"...You're not going to, are you?"
"Sounds about right."
There wasn't a crowd there, but it was still pretty embarassing because my friends would start asking if I was going to pass out again whenever I would play LoM.

That reminds me of one time when I disjointed my ankle. I was playing Break Down. Guess I broke down. The delayed feedback ended up with me using my already mangled foot a second time before I felt the excruciating shock and I fell to the floor. Everything went all bright and reddish. I was conscious until the medic forcibly shoved the bone back into its natural position. Man, that was a while back.

Yeah, I think so. I just called it "Challenge" because I'm used to playing the Challenge steps on EXTREME2 since I've barely seen any SuperNOVA2 machines anywhere.

I failed Butterfly on Light when I first started playing DDR. ( My friend was telling me, "Maybe you should try Beginner" but I was so confident Butterfly would be easily on Light... and I failed

Has anyone ever failed Orion .78 during the down stream because you tapped a little too light?

I'd say failing Why Not
in front of about 7 people.
1. the pads where broke
2. I've AAA that song before.

Well...one time in Florida, i was playing Nijiiro
on doubles. At that time, 1) I was running low on stamina (after Happy Angel
and Brilliant R-E-D
) and 2) i forgot how to turn my body, so i stood there for a few measures, trying to figure out which arrow to step on, and i ended up missing enough arrows to fail. I only had a three person crowd (luckily) but they were still cheering me on. I still felt like a retard though.

One time I was playing disconnected expert doubles (itg) and didnt know that my friend threw some fries at me earlier and slipped on them... at least nobody was looking then.
The worst time was when I was learning to play PIU, I wasnt really paying attention to where I was and then WHAM! I fell off the pad and hit the machine next to me.. The worst part was there were quite a few people watching.

I've stepped off the side of the pads while playing a few times, but I've never fallen into anything because of it. Dunno why other people seem to fall over whenever they step off on accident.

Arcade is so much harder than CS for some reason... I don't blame you.
