To not have to worry about the "Don't post in old threads" rule, there's a free forum host I used once that had the option to automatically delete threads that haven't been posted in for ______________ days, weeks, months, etc. Maybe you could set up something like this, Al? Unless you want to manually delete old topics yourself.

There's no rule against bumping old threads. There's only a rule against bumping old threads for no acceptable reason.

That's true, but if a thread goes on for 6 months without new posts, the forums could get cluttered with new threads. Just a thought to keep the site a little neater, but you can do what you want.

Of course, there's a point where you'll make a new topic because it's not worth reviving, but it all depends on what the topic is. Really, the users here aren't the type who do epic bumps for no reason.

If anything I wouldn't auto-delete topics, but rather disable bumping depending on how old the thread is.

There are many old threads that have information that people may want. Bumping old threads isn't such a problem that it would require such a desperate action IMO.

I'm against deleting old threads. I looked one up just a few minutes ago, because I wanted to see when I posted about something I did.

I agree with Kyzentun.
The only reason I wouldn't want an auto delete is that if you were curious enough to look at an old thread. BUT, I wouldn't post in the thread.

This is all true. I guess there's no real need for it then, but if sometime in the future we get too many immature members we could possibly look into it. Of course, Al makes all the final decisions.
EDIT: Duh! We could just ban the users! What was I thinking?

There's no real need to be honest. There's often some useful information in old threads.
