Sorry if it's already been answered in the main DDR X thread, I don't think I have the time to look through 211 pages of info 
I'm on Rage's story. I beat up to episode 8. Episode 9 is unlocked but greyed out so I can't select it. Why is that? Does it have anything to do with picking normal (as opposed to advanced) in some of the episodes (I did it to save time, 1 song vs. 2, I just wanted to rush through it)?

When that happens, it usually means that you have to start going through other characters' stories. If I remember correctly, start going through Zero's story and eventually, Episode 9 of Rage's story will be unlocked. I think it unlocks after you complete Zero's story. If I'm wrong, just start going through other available stories and it should work.
